He can’t see the stage lights. But he’ll make you see everything differently.
Most people know “Butterflies Are Free” as a play about a blind man fighting for independence.
What few people know is that this September, for the very first time, this acclaimed production travels from Bucharest to Cluj-Napoca — performed by someone who doesn’t just play the role.
He lives it.
Meet Valentin Andrieș — a remarkable actor, paraclimber, and Romania’s only professionally trained visually impaired actor.
A few days ago, I had the privilege of meeting Valentin, Bridey—the guide dog who rarely leaves his side—and the incredible team behind a production that is redefining what inclusion can look like on stage.
What we are creating together is more than a theatre performance. It is a statement about talent, courage, and a world where inclusion is not the exception, but the expectation.
As the creator of the Scripor Alphabet. Tactile Colors for the Blind, I have spent years working to make colors accessible through touch. I am especially excited that this Cluj edition will also include elements inspired by the Scripor Alphabet, extending the story beyond the stage and into a larger conversation about how inclusion should be experienced in everyday life.
🎭 Coming to Cluj-Napoca this September.
A timeless story. An extraordinary actor. A guide dog named Bridey. And a performance that may change the way you think about .
Venue, dates, and ticket details will be announced soon.
Trust me—you will want a seat in the audience for this one.
