Opening the PISA 2025 African Regional Policy Dialogue, Minister Joseph Nsengimana called on education leaders to look beyond assessment results and turn evidence into practical action that improves learning.
“Assessment should never be an end in itself. Its true value is realised when evidence leads to better decisions, stronger teaching, more supportive learning environments and, ultimately, better outcomes for our children.”
The dialogue is exploring what it takes to prepare future-ready learners, with particular attention to strong teachers, effective school leadership, and safe and supportive learning environments. Participating countries will also share how assessment evidence can help identify challenges, guide reforms and strengthen decision-making while recognising that solutions must be adapted to each country’s context.
“Behind every PISA result is a young person a learner with aspirations, potential and a future to build. Our responsibility as education leaders is to ensure that our policies, reforms and investments give that learner every opportunity to succeed.”
