Inspiring young women across the Indian ocean all the way to Delhi, India. The First Lady, Veronique Herminie will be participating in Mission ShakthiSAT 2026 a historic global initiative dedicated to empowering young women through space education, leadership, diplomacy, innovation and international collaboration. She has been invited as the featured speaker for the Global Leadership & Diplomacy Summit on 28th August 2026 and will also participate in the Space Meets Fashion special event on 29th August alongside the girls to celebrate the spirit of STEM to STEAM. 108 girls from 108 countries including Seychelles will be participating in Mission ShakthiSAT 2026 under the theme "Global Peace and Girl Power" and they expect to assist in building two satellites to orbit the earth, a platform for international friendship, cultural understanding and diplomatic engagement among global leaders. Our First Lady is one of the 7 honorary patrons for this event. Mission ShakthiSAT is a global space education initiative aiming to empower 12000 girls from 108 nations in space science (as part of science curriculum) through hands-on satellite projects, and STEM training. 9000 girls have joined the program to-date through their digital educational platform and the related educational materials were shared with the Minister for Education, Minister David Pierre earlier this week. The initiative is led by Dr Srimathy Kesan, founder and CEO of Space Kidz India and Managing Director of Ski Foundation and the Ambassador of ShakthiSAT in Seychelles is Ms Nichola Abrams.

The Seychelles National Youth Service (NYS) was, for many, an experience that fostered lasting friendships. Over the years, a small group from the 1985–1986 cohort managed to keep in touch through social media and gatherings. The group celebrated 40 years of friendship this year, and a small group of members representing the cohort—including First Lady Veronique Herminie —donated three refrigerators to the Seychelles Hospital, earmarked for the Hermitte ward. This donation is meant to ensure patient comfort. Hermitte is the surgical ward for women in Seychelles, and a number of the ladies from the 1985–1986 cohort have sadly fought different battles with cancer. It was the group's way of supporting the fight against cancer.

A generous donation of craft materials from Mrs. Rosie Brice was made toward the re-skilling initiatives of the Office of the First Lady, Republic of Seychelles. These initiatives will be launched soon in collaboration with local NGOs. Mrs. Brice, who now wishes to enjoy her retirement, also offered her services to teach participants how to make flowers from colorful tights—a traditional favorite for All Saints' Day. Anyone interested to learn this craft should contact the Office of the First Lady, on the contact number listed on this page - 4381450.

Community-level engagement is vital for the Office of the First Lady to coordinate home visits for the elderly and people with physical impairments, as well as certain activities for children. To support this work for the Bel Air district where the office of the First Lady is situated, First Lady Veronique Herminie met with the elected Member of Parliament for the district, Hon. Trevor Louise, and his team.

The 5th Breakfast with the First Lady was held this morning with eight recipients of the President's Cup from various post-secondary schools and institutions (SIAH, SIAD, SITE, SBSA, International School, Independent School, NIHSS, SMA, and SIT). The First Lady and her team enjoyed conversing with the bright young men and women, who shared their aspirations, discussed challenges faced by youth, and proposed potential solutions to these issues. They also provided input on the primary initiatives of the Office of the First Lady of the Republic of Seychelles. The First Lady, Veronique Herminie, encouraged the awardees to pursue their dreams and continue inspiring others with positivity.

The First Lady, Veronique Herminie, received signed copies of a book collection by Seychellois author and artist Peter Lalande earlier this week. The books feature educational comic stories starring the main character, Zak, centered on the environment and biodiversity of the Seychelles islands. During the meeting, the First Lady shared her vision with the artist regarding the educational TV program Alec & Kids—currently being developed in collaboration with the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC). She expressed her hope that these characters can help shape children for the future by addressing real-life challenges and helping them learn new skills.

The First Lady was honoured to join President Dr Patrick Herminie today as the Ministry responsible for Industrial development and COMFWB Seychelles chapter, broke ground for the new COMFWB Seychelles Incubation and Innovation Hub at Perseverance. The First Lady is very supportive of projects aimed to empower our women and our younger generation. 🇸🇨✨

Through the COYWA Programme, in partnership with COMESA, AUDA-NEPAD and COMFWB, this Hub will give Seychellois women entrepreneurs and youth innovators the tools, training and support to turn their ideas and dreams into thriving businesses. Seychelles has unique potential for niche natural resource utilization, specifically leveraging marine and endemic botanical assets for specialized value-added sectors. This Hub will remove structural barriers to production, and interested women should avail themselves of the opportunities this brings to promote Seychelles at a higher level.

It was a pleasure for the First Lady to stand alongside COMESA Secretary General, Ms Chileshe Mpundu Kapwepwe in giving support to our women entrepreneurs, as the two shares something in common in their career choices. Ms Kapwepwe was previously the Chairperson of the Zambia Revenue Authority whilst our First Lady held the position of Commissioner General for the Seychelles Revenue Commission.

Congratulations to the COMFWB Seychelles chapter for achieving this important milestone for our local industries. When we invest in our women and our youth, we invest in the future of our nation. 💛

Watching a child struggle with substance use, disrupts family dynamics and creates endless distress. This emotional pain and grief were shared with the First Lady, Veronique Herminie, by a group of mothers last Thursday, July 20th, as they expressed a wish for more long-term rehabilitation options. The same sentiment was echoed by the Executive Committee and management team of CARE Seychelles when they met with the First Lady on June 16th. CARE also assists in providing children with coping strategies, helping them set healthy boundaries, and offering support through education and awareness in school outreach programs. Addiction is a chronic, relapsing condition, and a lack of continuous community or family support systems often leads to setbacks - the emotional and financial struggles of family members are real. With the construction of the treatment center and the introduction of structured partnerships, the fight against drugs must be fought on all fronts. The First Lady will assist in boosting education and awareness through the upcoming Alec & Kids TV program. Seychelles has suffered enough, and considerations to strengthen regional actions have taken root following official visits to Reunion.
