[Meet-the-People Session at Tengah]

I was unwell and had already lost my voice, so I had to conduct MPS wearing a mask. Thank you to our residents for your patience and understanding.

There were several conversations tonight involving separation and divorce. It is never an easy decision, nor an easy thing to go through. The adults themselves are deeply affected, while also having to think about their children and work through housing, care arrangements, school matters and plenty of paperwork.

There is a lot to carry, and healing will likely take time.

My thoughts are with everyone involved — the parents, the children and their families. I hope they will each find the support and strength they need in the days ahead.

Thank you to everyone who came by tonight, and to our volunteers for being there as always. 🙏🏻😇

What a night, Tengah. ❤️🇸🇬

More than 1,500 residents came down last night to celebrate Singapore’s 61st birthday together.

But what I’ll remember most isn’t the number. It’s the people.

The hugs, the smiles, the children running around, parents and grandparents taking photos, neighbours stopping to say hello, and the many familiar faces we’ve had the privilege of getting to know along the way. ❤️

There was so much warmth and energy throughout the evening. Our children and students performed, our families joined in the activities, and our residents simply enjoyed being together.

This year, we changed the format of our National Day celebration because residents told us they wanted more opportunities to participate and be part of the celebrations. Last night, you showed us exactly what that can look like.

A heartfelt thank you to our Organising Chair Keng Boon, Vice- Chair Melvin, RNs, community volunteers who put in so much time and effort behind the scenes, and to our schools, partners, patrons and sponsors for supporting the celebration.

And most importantly, thank you to all our Tengah residents — for coming down, joining in, sharing your ideas with us, and making this celebration what it was.

Tengah is still a young town. But we are not just building a town. We are building a community, and we are making Tengah home — together. ❤️

Happy 61st birthday, Singapore! 🇸🇬

It was a pleasure presenting the ITE Edusave Merit Bursary Awards to our students in Tengah and celebrating their achievements.

Behind every award is plenty of effort — and often, parents, friends and teachers who are there through the good days and the difficult ones.

🇸🇬 TENGAH NATIONAL DAY CARNIVAL 2026 — SOLD OUT AGAIN!

Last year, 800 tickets sold out. This year, we increased the capacity to 1,000 tickets — and you sold that out too!

The demand was so strong last year that some tickets even ended up being resold on the black market for more than $20 each!

Please don’t pay inflated prices for tickets from unofficial sources. If you didn’t manage to get a ticket, you can still join us for free — just without the ticketed goody bag.

🎤 Performances start at 6pm tonight at Tengah CC.

Come on down, enjoy the performances, and celebrate National Day with your neighbours, friends and family. Most of all, thank you for making this such a special celebration for Tengah.

What can businesses and community partners bring to a new town?

More than 30 entrepreneurs, social impact leaders and community partners joined us at Tengah CC to walk around our young town, meet one another and explore how they can contribute to the Tengah community.

For Tengah, this is another way of bringing people beyond our usual partners into the conversation — to understand the town, listen and see where they can play a part. ❤️

[🇸🇬❤️ Bringing SG61 to Tengah Garden Precincts at Blk 240]

Last Saturday, PAP Tengah Branch volunteers and I were at Blk 240, bringing National Day flags to residents at the coffeeshop and nearby shops.

Along the way, we caught up with familiar faces, met new ones, and had plenty of quick chats and smiles. 😊

Thank you to all the residents for the warm conversations, and to our PAP Tengah Branch volunteers for giving up their Saturday to distribute the flags and celebrate SG61. ❤️

[🏛️ 15th Parliament Session 10 – 4 August 2026: Putting People at the Centre of Road Safety (Part 2/2)]

One sentence in the Road Traffic Bill's Explanatory Statement stayed with me. It describes traumatic brain injury resulting in a permanent vegetative state as being "almost as serious as death".

Working in rehabilitation has taught me that severe neurological injury often changes far more than one life. Behind every patient is a family whose daily life, work and future may also be changed.

Recovery is rarely a matter of weeks. It can take months or years. Some people make remarkable progress. Others improve only to a certain point despite everyone's best efforts.

That is why I asked whether our sentencing framework should more explicitly recognise permanent and irreversible neurological injury, and whether families affected by catastrophic road accidents continue to receive the long-term rehabilitation and caregiver support they need.

The strongest road safety system is one that not only holds dangerous drivers accountable, but also prevents more families from ever having to live through such tragedies.
