💚 Dearest Friends & Neighbours,
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for celebrating HV Little Library’s 4th Birthday with us on Sunday, 2 August.
Thank you for giving so generously of your time, your food, your helping hands, your resources, and most of all, your hearts. Every smile, every conversation, every dish shared, every chair carried, every song sung, and every act of kindness made the day what it was.
We were deeply humbled to see so many of you turn up to sing together, laugh together, meet new neighbours, reconnect with old friends, and share in the food blessings so generously prepared by our community.
One thing we’ve learnt over the past four years is this: we never know who will come, and we never know how much food there will be. Yet somehow, every single time, there is always more than enough. Enough food to share. Enough helping hands. Enough kindness to go around.
We are incredibly grateful for the support that makes this little kampong so istimewa.
As a ground-up initiative, we may be small, but we have always believed that a community is measured not by its size, but by the size of its heart.
Turning four is a significant milestone for us, especially for those who weren’t sure we would even make it through our first year. We are only here because you embraced this little space and made it your own.
Looking back, we realise that what began as a little library has become something more—a place where neighbours find friendship, kindness, and a sense of belonging.

Over the years, we’ve learnt that many people don’t realise how much they long for a place where they feel welcomed, accepted, and that they belong—until they find one.
A sense of belonging cannot be built with shelves of books alone. It is built by people. By neighbours choosing to care for one another, one small act of kindness at a time.
Sunday’s celebration was a beautiful reminder of exactly that.
It would not have been possible without the many hands and hearts who quietly stepped forward before, during, and after the event. Some organised, some cooked, some baked, some sang, some swept floors, some carried tables, some washed dishes, some welcomed newcomers, and many simply came with open hearts.
Every contribution mattered.
What we celebrated on Sunday wasn’t just a birthday. It was four years of neighbours choosing, again and again, to build the kind of community they wanted to live in.
To everyone who came to celebrate with us—every Kampong Elf, every volunteer, every neighbour, every family, every musician, every singer, every Food Angel, every donor, every supporter, and everyone who contributed in ways seen and unseen—thank you.
Whether you were with us on Sunday, cheering us on from afar, or have walked alongside us at any point over the past four years—you are part of this story too.
Thank you for believing in this little community.
Thank you for believing in kindness.
Thank you for proving, once again, that Community is Immunity.
Here’s to many more years of books, conversations, shared meals, unexpected friendships, and ordinary neighbours doing extraordinary things together.
To all the dreamers and mischief-makers among us who aren’t afraid to reach for the stars—let’s keep making magic.
