It was a special 4 July 2026 as East Zone 4 RN and BESM Emergency & Engagement Committee guided 100 residents on a modern EP cm Total Defence Tour 2026. Embarking on the exciting Civil Defence City Adventure, we gained valuable insights into Singapore's emergency preparedness and civil defence capabilities at 4 nostalgic heritage sites in the city.
The day began with a visit to the iconic Central Fire Station at 9am, where participants learned about the history of the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), explored firefighting appliances, and witnessed the dedication and professionalism of our firefighters in safeguarding people and homes.
Residents then popped by next door to the Civil Defence Heritage Gallery & Emergency Preparedness Centre, where interactive exhibits highlighted Singapore's civil defence journey.
The journey continued to the Cantonment MRT Station Opening Ceremony site, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at the nation's emergency infrastructure and demonstrating how essential facilities are designed to protect the community during times of crisis.
The outing concluded with a hearty lunch at the nostalgic 130-years old Lau Pa Sat, where residents enjoyed local & international delights at the 80 F&B stalls. Amidst cheery chatter and laughter, neighbourliness was fostered and community bonds strengthened.
Z4RN and BESM C2E extend our heartfelt appreciation to all our residents, SCDF, and C2E, CERT, Z4RN volunteers for making our third run of the Total Defence Tour a meaningful and memorable success. Beyond an educational excursion, the tour served as an all-time reminder that Total Defence is everyone's responsibility. Through greater awareness, preparedness and community spirit, residents gained a deeper appreciation of the role each individual plays.
Together, let's continue to build a safe, secure and united Singapore๐ธ๐ฌ
