The Embassy of Peru in Singapore hosted the Peru–Singapore Business Roundtable on 13 August, an investment promotion event aimed at presenting new opportunities for Singaporean companies in Peru, particularly in port and logistics infrastructure, industrial parks and Private Special Economic Zones (ZEEP). 🇵🇪🤝🇸🇬

The session was led by Peruvian academics Jaime A. García Díaz, Senior Researcher at the Institute of International Studies of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (IDEI-PUCP), and Carlos Aquino Rodríguez, Director of the Center for Asian Studies at the National University of San Marcos, with the institutional support of Enterprise Singapore and the Singapore Business Federation (SBF).

The discussion highlighted opportunities in critical minerals, agribusiness, energy, infrastructure, logistics and the digital economy, as well as the growing potential of the Chancay–Callao logistics corridor and Peru’s new ZEEP framework.

The roundtable also provided an opportunity for a direct exchange with Singaporean business representatives on regional connectivity, investment prospects and areas where Singapore’s expertise, capital, technology and world-class logistics capabilities can contribute to new business partnerships with Peru.

On Wednesday, 22 July, the Embassy of Peru in Singapore celebrated the 205th anniversary of Peru’s Independence and 46 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The official reception, held at the Royal Pavilion Ballroom of Conrad Singapore Orchard, brought together around 300 guests, including Singaporean authorities, senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, academics, media representatives, prominent local figures and members of the Peruvian community.

The Guest of Honour was Ms Gan Siow Huang, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Industry of Singapore, who attended together with Member of Parliament Ms Lee Hui Ying.

In his remarks, the Ambassador of Peru to Singapore, Fernando Quirós, highlighted the strength of bilateral relations and the opportunities to develop new economic partnerships. In particular, he underscored the potential for partnerships between Peruvian and Singaporean companies to establish industrial parks in Peru inspired by Singapore’s successful experience in several Asian countries.

Minister of State Gan congratulated the Government and people of Peru on the 205th anniversary of the country’s Independence. She also expressed Singapore’s willingness to continue working closely with the new Peruvian Government, which will take office on 28 July, and to explore new opportunities for economic and trade cooperation.

Following the speeches and national anthems, guests enjoyed traditional Peruvian dances, including the Marinera, Tondero and Huaylas, as well as a selection of dishes from Peru’s renowned cuisine, such as ceviche, lomo saltado, ají de gallina, quinoa and alfajores. They were also treated to Peru’s emblematic Pisco Sour, a variety of pisco-based cocktails and specialty coffee from Chanchamayo.

The commemorative event reaffirmed the deep bonds of friendship between Peru and Singapore as the two countries mark 46 years of diplomatic relations. It also showcased Peru’s cultural and productive wealth, promoted the country’s image and tourism, and gave members of the Peruvian community living in Singapore an opportunity to celebrate Peru’s National Day surrounded by the culture and spirit of their homeland.
