Tiong Bahru Community Centre

Tiong Bahru Community Centre Situated in one of the oldest housing estate in Singapore, Tiong Bahru Community Centre has been serving the community for more than 60 years.

The idea of opening a community centre building was first materialized in July 1951, located in Eu Chin Street at a cost of $20,000. After some fruitful years, former air raid shelters located in the quadrangle bordered by Tiong Poh Road, Guan Chuan Street, Seng Poh Road and Eng Watt street were converted for use as the Community Centre's administrative offices, library and classrooms. It was officially launched and re-opened to the public in October, 1960.

This morning, our team of Grassroots Leaders and community volunteers, led by our Grassroots Adviser Ms Indranee Rajah delivered mooncakes to more than 3000 of our seniors in our neighborhood. Due to the current covid situation, the distribution was done contactless and we hung the mooncakes at their front gates. Hope our seniors residents received a pleasant surprise when they opened their gates!

On behalf of the Management Committee, our Chairman, Mr Kenneth Seet, wishes all our residents a Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!

As the COVID-19 Delta variant has a shorter incubation period and is more easily detected, an individual’s quarantine period will be reduced from 14 days to 10 days. This is on the condition that the person under quarantine tests negative for COVID-19 at the end of the quarantine. Daily Antigen Rapid Tests will also need to be continued after the quarantine period up to day 14.

Quick update on the swab ops at Blk 2D Boon Tiong.

The vast majority of the stall holders and tenants of Blk 18 Jalan Membina and Tiong Bahru Market finished their tests on Friday and Saturday. Understand from Ministry of Health, Singapore that the results for those tested over the last 2 days were all negative.

Some of the remaining few were tested today; their results are pending. Agencies are following up on the handful or so who have not yet been tested.

Hope this provides some reassurance.

Would also like to clarify that there was no Covid positive case at any of the yong tau foo stalls at Tiong Bahru Market.

The Market committee asked me to help them put the word out on this because unfortunately many people have confused the Market with a different F&B place - the Tiong Bahru Yong Tau Hu Coffee Shop - which had a Covid positive case, a stall assistant linked to the Bukit Merah View cluster.

The Coffee Shop is at the other end of Eng Hoon street, opposite the Monkey God temple, and is different from the Market.

So do continue to patronize the yong tau foo stalls at the Tiong Bahru Market!

Hi, Thank you for organising the CDC-CC education merit award ceremony for the past years. I noticed that there is a discrepancy with the year which is reflected on the award document received by my child this year. My child had the good opportunity of receiving it for the past three years but the year indicated on this year's document does not seem to be correct. I think it should be "2019" instead of "2018". When I place the awards received by my child for the past three years, the years are "2017 - Primary 2", "2018 - Primary 3" and "2018 - Primary 4". This looks weird as my child received the award in 2018 when he is in Primary 2 and Primary 3 (study two different levels in a single year?). Please see enclosed image file. If this is an error, I would appreciate if you can correct it soon and send me a replacement document to my mailing address (which I will be glad to provide).
