Congratulations to our National Day Awards 2026 recipients! 🇸🇬

The Singapore National Awards recognise individuals for their merit and service to Singapore. This year, 7,491 individuals were recognised across 24 award categories.

Alhamdulillah, we are proud to celebrate our MUIS officers who have been recognised in this year’s National Day Awards.

Strong leadership is key to ensuring that MUIS continues to serve the evolving needs of the Muslim community and build a stronger future together.

MUIS welcomes two new members to our leadership team: Deputy Chief Executive Ms Faizah Ahmad Barazy who has joined us since 1 August, and Assistant Chief Executive Ms Rafidah Suparman who will join MUIS senior leadership on 1 October.

Ms Faizah is overseeing the Education, One Mosque Sector, Halal Development and Community Funds clusters, which support the religious and community life of Muslims in Singapore. She brings close to two decades of experience in policy and community relations, most recently at the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY).

While Ms Rafidah will strengthen the organisational capabilities that enable MUIS to better serve the community, including digital services and strategic communications. She brings more than three decades of leadership experience from the Singapore Prison Service.

As MUIS continues to strengthen its leadership for the future, we remain committed to serving the Muslim community with excellence, professionalism and compassion.

May Allah s.w.t. grant our leaders wisdom, strength and barakah as they continue to serve the community.

What legacy will we leave behind when we return to Allah?

When the affairs of this world come to an end, nothing remains with a person except that which continues to bring benefit. From among these are i) acts of charity that endure, ii) knowledge that benefits others, iii) and prayers made by a righteous child.

Is smoking/va**ng halal, haram or makruh?🤔

Among the many forms of indulgence we may struggle with, smoking and va**ng are topics that continue to raise questions among Muslims today. To better understand public perceptions, we asked youths what they thought the Islamic ruling was.

While many within our community recognise that smoking and va**ng are prohibited in Islam, some are still unsure about the exact ruling or whether there is a distinction between the two.

Agama kita meletakkan nilai yang sangat tinggi dalam memelihara kesihatan, keluarga, dan kesejahteraan insan yang tersayang. Memandangkan kebimbangan yang kian meningkat berkenaan penggunaan v**e dan e-rokok, Jawatankuasa Fatwa telah mengeluarkan panduan agama berhubung isu ini.

Dengan mengambil kira aspek kesihatan awam, kesejahteraan diri, dan realiti semasa, fatwa ini memberi penekanan kepada kebimbangan utama seperti kesan terhadap perkembangan otak generasi muda, tekanan kepada keluarga, dan bahaya pendedahan wap pasif, sambil kekal berteraskan prinsip-prinsip Islam.

Our faith places immense value on preserving health, family, and the well-being of our loved ones. In light of growing concerns surrounding va**ng and e-cigarettes, the Fatwa Committee has issued religious guidance on this matter.

Taking into account public health, personal wellbeing, and present-day realities, the fatwa highlights concerns such as the impact on young brain development, strain on families, and the harm of secondhand exposure, while remaining grounded in Islamic principles.

Through prevention, community care, and professional support, we can safeguard our next generation.
