Human Capital Development has to be more than a slogan, fancy data, baselines and graphs. It has to be connected (relevant) to everyday life for millions of Sierra Leoneans……. London 20/01/20
In Sierra Leone, President Julius Maada Bio acutely aware of our own dark and ugly history of hate, ignorance, fear and loathing (TRIBALISM), gave voice to the concept of Human Capital Development.
President Julius Maada Bio stated that “without sustainable development, there can be no sustainable future and Sierra Leone will remain vulnerable to the political intrigues that divide us by language, tribe, region and surname”
We can do better and we should do better………..
After 50 years of independence, Sierra Leoneans cannot keep doing the same things over and over again and expect to move forward.
I accept that some folks question the direction of travel of the current government and I sincerely hope that all citizens continue to speak up and engage constructively.
Are you listening?
I am inspired by President Julius Maada Bio’s acknowledgment that our greatest national resources are our people, (especially women and children).
I support his desire to nurture, develop and equip all our citizens with the knowledge and skills required to enable them to be productive and pursue their own version of happiness…………….
That is what HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT means.
This is how we change the conversation, moving from fear and ignorance to hope and opportunity for all, regardless of your tribe, gender, religion or surname.
Creating sustainable development is not easy, but I have absolute confidence in the potential of young Sierra Leoneans to be creative, innovative and progressive, if allowed to breathe the fresh air of opportunity in a free society where we have condemned the ugliness of fear and loathing to the dustbin of our past.
I passionately believe that HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT can help reshape the role and scope of government, creating a new relationship with local communities, empowering all citizens and giving our country its self-belief back!
Support President Julius Maada Bio and let’s make HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT more than just a fancy slogan…………..
Sierra Leone deserves better!
