BREAKING NEWS NOW:Dozens of Congolese army soldiers fled into the Rwandan border town of Rubavu on Monday, where they surrendered their weapons and were processed by Rwandese border officials.

It follows an advance by the Rwanda-backed M23 rebels, who claimed they had captured the eastern city of Goma early Monday.

Gunshots rang out across Goma overnight before dozens of rebels in military uniform marched into the city early Monday morning.Source DW News Africa.

BREAKING NEWS NOW:The President of Hungary, Katalin Novak, has expressed condolences to Nigerians following the killing of over 100 persons in Plateau State on Christmas Day.

Novak, in a tweet on Wednesday, said the “massacre” of Nigerians has to stop, describing the death toll as a “brutal attack on Christians at Christmas in Nigeria.”

BREAKING NEWS NOW:In a response to a viral video, the Nigeria Police Force has dismissed two constabularies, Jimoh Lukman and Kareem Fatai, for extorting money from a Dutch tourist.

The officers, caught on camera demanding bribes, were arrested, stripped of their uniforms, and publicly paraded on Thursday in Oyo State. Briefing newsmen at the Oyo Police Command’s Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, the Commissioner of Police (CP), Adebola Hamzat, said the constabularies extorted a tourist from Netherland, Ms Noraly Schoenmaker.SOURCE WHISTLER

BREAKING NEWS NOW:Putin warns of problems with neighboring Finland after West ‘dragged it into NATO’. Finland’s ascension to NATO marked a major shift in the security landscape in northern Europe, and added some 1,300 kilometers (830 miles) to the alliance’s frontier with Russia.

It was also a blow for President Putin, who has long warned against NATO expansion.

“They (the West) took Finland and dragged it into NATO! Why, did we have any disputes with Finland? All disputes, including those of a territorial nature in the middle of the 20th Century, have all been resolved long ago,” Putin said in an interview published on Sunday.SOURCES
