I am here to SERVE!
Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh reflects on his birthday.

Today, my birthday, more than any other day, I am reminded of my commitment to live a life of service to my country, my family and to you.
I was woken up by the Sierra Leone National Dance Troupe who performed for an hour for my family. In witness were family and friends including SLPP delegates from Kenema, Bombali, Kailahun and Western Area.

Then at the office, I got a wonderful birthday hug from the SLPP National Chairman. I love Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa because he sleeps, wakes up and lives for SLPP. Beyond politics, that is what drives our brotherhood.

I was greeted and sung for by the cleaners, gardeners, security and staff at State House. My job is made possible because of them. Other elders and leaders visited for an in person hug.

Of course what else defines service more than Cabinet for ministers? The Vice President, my boss and my friend, gave me a big hug and birthday wish. The entire cabinet melodiously sang for me as we dug into policy and agreements that will transform the lives of Sierra Leoneans.

I have been called by leaders in APC, other opposition parties, Paramount Chiefs, ordinary citizens and friends from all corners of Sierra Leone and the world.

I am not a birthday person but what's been phenomenal today is to see young people and community leaders across Sierra Leone take up service as part of the RADICAL INCLUSION MOVEMENT.

My friend from Maryland sent medical devices to Makeni hospital which are being used for surgeries. The youth of Pujehun are cleaning up major public areas. The women of Kenema have swept streets today. Students in Njala are undertaking various community service activities. All over the country, people are taking committed action in service of others.

Today, more than any day, I believe that our movement is unstoppable. Together a better, more loving, kinder and more just Sierra Leone.

As we all fast this Ramadan and Lent, may God heal us. May he strengthen us. May he unite us. And may he give us the energy to transform our country.

I am here to SERVE! I AM PREPARED. I AM ABLE. I AM READY!

Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh Engages Sierra Leone Film Industry Labour and Marketing Guild, Pledges Support for Creative Economy

Freetown, 20 February 2026.

Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has met with executive members of the Sierra Leone Film Industry Labour and Marketing Guild (SL Film Guild) to discuss strengthening the creative sector as a driver of national development in Sierra Leone.

The Chief Minister commended the Guild for presenting a coordinated industry framework and assured members that the Film Act will be tabled in Parliament before the end of the year. He also confirmed that the Copyright Act is under review to enhance protection for creative professionals.

Reaffirming Government’s commitment to the creative economy, Dr. Sengeh emphasized its potential to generate youth employment, promote tourism, and expand Sierra Leone’s global cultural footprint. He noted that skills development partnerships, including cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, will incorporate film production and related creative disciplines.

Secretary General Iscandri A. Sankoh highlighted film as a strategic national asset capable of driving economic growth and cultural diplomacy. He outlined key priorities including passage of the Film Act, tackling piracy, strengthening infrastructure, and establishing a Film Development Fund under a proposed Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

This aligns with Government’s “Big Five Game Changers,” particularly in advancing youth employment, human capital development, and economic diversification. The Chief Minister reiterated that by 2035, Sierra Leone will be an inclusive, green, and middle-income country, stressing that the creative industry will play a vital role in achieving that vision.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SLPP AND APC -DAVID MOININA SENGEH -PhD

The difference between the SLPP and APC is ideological. Each and every senior member of the APC has mad respect for me - and I too have respect for many of them. However, whether in one on one discussions, group conversations or in public discourse, I will always point out that our fundamental difference is this- SLPP is a progressive SOCIAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY (in response on TV once, Hon Abdul Kargbo said APC is a Pan-Africanist Party- I still don't know what that means policy wise). The SLPP established social security, built NRA, introduced free quality school education, removed the death penalty and focuses on human capital development- that's what being a progressive social democratic party means.
Hon. Chericoco and I had a deep conversation earlier this month about some of those policy differences. Unlike many of the other folks in his party, he and a few others have the experience, exposure and intellectual stamina to discuss policy and governance even where we disagree. However, what I see on social media today from the opposition is you have very inexperienced folks discussing policy. Others are being influenced by what they think will trend and not what is actually good for their party or the country. Governance isn't social media rhetoric. My friend, until you've sat across teachers who are demanding pay rise and threatening to lay down tools, established institutions from scratch, passed bills into laws, it would be hard for you to understand certain things.

I encourage APC folks as they enter their lower level elections to choose leaders with depth, substance and character so that as a country we can have democratic growth. We need opposition leaders who are not clout chasing and who have the demonstrated political depth. We need leaders whose message isnt just abusive language in rallies. We want leaders who actually understand what their rights as citizens are. We want leaders who have the ability to sit across from us, dialogue and own the process. To throw your hands up and call for non participation in governance at every hurdle is the laziest and most destructive form of civic leadership. What are you teaching your kids at home? When I say together , I mean together as government and progressive opposition members, we will deliver a more just and inclusive Sierra Leone.

Ps- if you are APC and you find yourself feeling triggered by this post, before you come out abusing me, check yourself and understand where that anger is coming from. Na one Salone we get, nor to one man in yone.

Pps- this is not an endorsement of my friend Hon Chericoco.

CHIEF MINISTER GIVES AN OPENING STATEMENT ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FORUM IN DUBAI…

Today, I gave the opening statement at the Artificial Intelligence Forum (World Governments Summit) in Dubai. After sharing about the work Sierra Leone through its public and private sector investments in addition to citizens like Hawa Dominica Yokie is doing to improve human capital through technology, I spoke about three things.

1. Techquity: We must use AI and technology to bring those on the margins inside. Technology must bridge the gap between the haves and have nots.

2. Interdependence: Multilateralism and globalization is under attack. Technology and AI can help us reset so we focus on what truly matters- our humanity. We must deploy solutions that prevent and respond to any pandemic and environmental disasters. No one nation will develop without others.

3. Shared Prosperity: It is easier to check the stock price of your favorite AI company while sipping your favorite coffee every morning. But I want us to ask a simply question as leaders: how are we applying digital and AI solutions that make the world more just so that a child born in Sierra Leone, UAE or America can reach his or her fullest potential and contribute to local, national and global development?

As a leader, one core philosophy I practice is inclusive governance. In practice, it means ensuring that people historically left out are not just in the room but are given unlimited front row access. At the world government summit in Dubai, in my own delegation as Chief Minister, I have with me the National Secretary General of the National Council of Paramount Chiefs from Moyamba, a female member of parliament from Western Area, a deputy director at the national civil registration authority from Kenema, and the district Cordinator-Free quality school education from Kambia. These leaders come from East, West, North and South of Sierra Leone. They are here with 3,500 other leaders in public and private sector and we are exploring ways through which we can better deliver for our people. This is what I mean when I say together
