SIERRA LEONE MUSICIANS UNION VISITS ENTERTAINMENT AMBASSADOR KAO DENERO TO STRENGTHEN INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIP

The Sierra Leone Musicians Union has paid a courtesy visit to the Entertainment Ambassador, Kao Denero, as part of ongoing efforts to build stronger collaboration within the country’s entertainment sector.

The visit was aimed at establishing a formal partnership between the Office of the Entertainment Ambassador and the Musicians Union, with a focus on advancing the growth and development of the music industry in Sierra Leone.

During the meeting, representatives of the Union highlighted their nationwide presence, noting that they have active members across all districts in the country. They emphasized the importance of unity among musicians and key industry stakeholders, adding that collaboration with the Ambassador’s office would help amplify their impact both locally and internationally.

The Union also extended an invitation to Ambassador Kao Denero to join their organization, stating that his involvement would give the Union greater visibility and credibility.

In response, Ambassador Kao Denero warmly welcomed the delegation and commended the Union for their efforts to organize and represent musicians across the nation. He assured them of his willingness to support initiatives that promote the entertainment industry.

However, he clarified that he would not be able to join the Union as a member at this time. He explained that, given his national role as Entertainment Ambassador, it is important for him to remain accessible and neutral in working with all unions and stakeholders within the industry.

Ambassador Kao Denero further encouraged the Union to develop a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between their organization and his office. He noted that such a framework would help define areas of cooperation and ensure a structured and mutually beneficial partnership.

He reaffirmed his commitment to playing his role as Entertainment Ambassador by fostering collaboration, supporting talent development, and working with all relevant bodies to move Sierra Leone’s entertainment industry forward.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties expressing optimism about future collaboration and a shared vision for a more unified and progressive entertainment landscape.

The Sierra Leone DJ’s Union (SLeDU) has today paid a courtesy visit to the country’s Entertainment Ambassador, Kao Denero, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration within the entertainment industry.

The meeting, held in a cordial and forward-looking atmosphere, focused on seeking Ambassador Kao Denero’s endorsement for the Union’s upcoming National Music Awards ceremony scheduled for March 27th at the Bintumani Conference Center in Freetown. Representatives of the DJ’s Union emphasized the importance of unity and partnership among key stakeholders in the entertainment sector, noting that such collaboration is essential for the growth and global recognition of Sierra Leone’s creative industry.

During the engagement, the Union also formally requested a sustainable working relationship and long-term entertainment partnership with the Ambassador. They highlighted their commitment to promoting local talent and creating platforms that celebrate DJs and other entertainment professionals across the country.

In addition, the DJ’s Union appealed to Ambassador Kao Denero to support their event through endorsement and gracing the event and also by facilitating the performance of Wisher Baby, a female artist signed to his record label. According to the Union, her presence would add value and diversity to the Awards ceremony, while also promoting female representation in the industry.

Responding to the requests, Ambassador Kao Denero expressed appreciation for the visit and commended the Union for their efforts in organizing the Awards. However, he advised the organizers to consider creating a special recognition award category for distinguished personalities, rather than placement in a general competitive category alongside others. He noted that such a category would better reflect contributions made at a national and distinguished level.

The meeting ended on a positive note, with both parties expressing willingness to work together towards the advancement of Sierra Leone’s entertainment landscape.
