On 29 August 2026, the TARDO Team participated in an important coordination meeting with the Yurkud District Administration and humanitarian organisations operating in the district.
The meeting focused on the ongoing drought situation and the urgent needs of vulnerable communities. Discussions highlighted the importance of strengthening coordination and collaboration to improve emergency response and support longer-term community resilience.
Key priority areas discussed included humanitarian assistance, health, education, livelihoods, WASH, and protection.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen collaboration, address emerging challenges, and work together towards sustainable solutions for communities in Yurkud and across the Gedo Region.

TARDO Org remains committed to working closely with local authorities, communities, and humanitarian partners to support vulnerable families and strengthen community resilience.

Today, I had the privilege of representing TARDO Organization at the Southwest State Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Cluster Partners Monthly Coordination Meeting, held in Baidoa.

The meeting was led by the Minister of Energy and Water Resources and the Deputy Minister, bringing together UN agencies, international NGOs, local NGOs, and humanitarian partners to strengthen coordination and collaboration on WASH interventions across Southwest State.
Key discussions focused on the current humanitarian WASH situation, ongoing and planned interventions, coordination among partners, existing gaps, and preparedness for the anticipated El Niรฑo season to support early response and resilience.

TARDO NGO remains committed to working alongside the Ministry and humanitarian partners to improve access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene services for vulnerable communities across Southwest Somalia.

Today, I had the privilege of representing TARDO Organization, as Program Manager at the first day of the Localization, Advocacy, and Leadership Training in Baidoa, Southwest State of Somalia.

The training, supported by DANIDA, Save the Children, Gargaar Relief and Development Organization (GREDO), and the Initiative for Relief and Climate Action (IRCA), brought together Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and international partners to strengthen localization, leadership, advocacy, accountability, and inclusive decision-making.

This valuable learning opportunity will strengthen TARDO NGOโ€™s capacity to deliver more effective and sustainable humanitarian and development programmes.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of representing TARDO Organization as the Program Manager at the Governance and Sustainability Training for Youth-led CSOs, CBOs, and Local NGOs, held in Baidoa, Bay Region, Somalia, under the DANIDA SPA 2026 LOT DEVโ€™ SOF Project.

The two-day training, supported by DANIDA, Save the Children, GREDO, and MADFO, brought together local civil society organizations to strengthen institutional capacity and promote effective governance.

The sessions covered key topics, including Good Governance Principles, Ethics and Accountability, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Risk Management and Compliance, Stakeholder Engagement, Governance Structures, Sustainability Strategies, and Action Planning.

As Program Manager, I am committed to applying the knowledge and skills gained from this training to strengthen TARDOโ€™s programmes, enhance accountability and transparency, and improve the quality of our humanitarian and development interventions for vulnerable communities across Somalia.

I sincerely thank DANIDA, Save the Children, GREDO, and MADFO for organizing this valuable learning opportunity and for their continued support in strengthening the capacity of local organizations.

Today, the TARDO NGO team successfully conducted a Community Mobilization and Nutrition Awareness Session in Yurkud District, Gedo Region, Somalia, bringing together mothers, caregivers, and children to promote healthy nutrition practices and improve child well-being.

During the session, our team delivered nutrition education, promoted Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices, highlighted the importance of early detection of malnutrition through MUAC screening, and encouraged families to seek timely health and nutrition services for children at risk.

At TARDO, we believe that informed communities are healthier and more resilient communities. By working hand in hand with local families, community leaders, and volunteers, we are empowering caregivers with practical knowledge to improve child nutrition, prevent malnutrition, and ensure children receive the care they need at the earliest opportunity.

We sincerely thank the people of Yurkud District for their active participation and continued partnership. Together, we are building healthier communities where every child has the opportunity to survive, grow, and thrive.

The forum focused on Somalia's worsening humanitarian situation, with discussions on acute food insecurity, the ongoing drought, and preparedness for the anticipated Deyr season flooding.
