UNITY STATE GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES REHABILITATION OF THE 92-KILOMETRE MAYOM–MANKIEN–AJAKUACH ROAD

The Unity State Government, under the leadership of H.E. Dr. Joseph Manytuil Wejang, has officially launched the rehabilitation of the 92-kilometre Mayom–Mankien–Ajakuach road in Mayom County, reaffirming its commitment to improving infrastructure and accelerating socio-economic development across the State.

The project, launched on 16th July 2026, will provide a vital transport corridor for the movement of people, goods and services, boosting trade and economic activities while strengthening the road link between Unity State and Juba through the Greater Bahr el Ghazal region. Fully funded by the Unity State Government through the State Ministry of Finance and Planning, the rehabilitation works will be implemented by Dewet Caravel Investment Co. Ltd. and are expected to be completed within two months.

Beyond improving transportation, the rehabilitation of the road is expected to save lives by easing access to healthcare services, particularly for expectant mothers who have faced life-threatening delays in reaching medical facilities due to the poor condition of the road over the past two years.

This initiative forms part of Governor Dr. Joseph Manytuil Wejang’s broader vision to enhance road infrastructure across Unity State by utilizing the available limited resources to drive development, improve public service delivery, and support the recovery and prosperity of the people of Unity State.
