Vice President Igga Visits Gen. Lodu Gore

Tuesday 25th June 2024;
HE Vice President Prof. James Wani Igga visited Gen. Alfred Lodu Gore in his residence at Atlabara A residential area.
The last visit was in November 2021 after the historic reconciliation of Bari key political leaders.

The visit by His Excellency Wani Igga came after the return of Gen. Gore from medical attention in Turkey last May 2024.
There was a performance of Bari rituals by elder Chief Tartisio Lodu in the family, as a sign of peace.

The Vice President Wani Igga was accompanied by Hon. Kornelio Bepo Majority Chief Whip of the Council of States and Hon. Tongun Lodu Rombe member of the Revitalized Transitional National Legislative Assembly.

Vice President Igga Graces EES University of Juba Cultural Day

Saturday 22nd June 2024 - Juba
Eastern Equatoria State University of Juba Students Association celebrated Cultural Day and welcoming of the newly admitted students to the University under the theme: Unity for All.
The occasion was graced by HE Prof. James Wani Igga, the Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan in the presence of State Governor Louis Lonong Lojore.

Vice President Igga, salutes the heroes who started liberation struggle for thr freedom of South Sudan Rev. Fr. Santurlino Lohure and Gen. Joseph Lagu and congratulated people of Eastern Equatoria for being in the forefront of struggle for freedom.

Vice President Prof. Wani Igga advised the students of Eastern Equatoria to promote culture, basic education and technical skills to overcome unemployment and become self-employed. HE Vice President donated three million South Sudan Pounds to support their activities.

Governor Lobong promised to avail two photocopy machine to both Juba and Upper Nile Universities to support students of the State. HE the Governor advised the students to embrace the spirit of hardwork and skills.

The occasion drew hundreds of students from different cultural groups of Eastern Equatoria State. State Minister of Information, Chairperson of South Sudan General Youth Union Mr. Paride Taban and many other youths and students leadership across South Sudan.

SPLM Leadership Strategises for Democratic Transition

Thursday 20th June 2024;
The SPLM leadership Standing Committee met under 1st Deputy Chairman Cde. Prof. James Wani Igga, who doubles as the Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan to discuss the road map for December 2024 General Elections.

The meeting brought in all the three Deputies of the SPLM Chairman, Cde. Daniel Awet Akot and Cde. Eng. Kuol Manyang Juuk, SPLM Secretary General Cde. Peter Lam Both and his two Deputies Comrades Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel and Mary Apayi Ayiga in addition to senior officials from the SPLM National Secretariat.

The Meeting dwells on socioeconomic strategies as the country faces serious challenges.

Muslim Community Leaders Visit VP Igga

Tuesday 18th June 2024
The Muslim Community leaders in Juba South Sudan visited HE Vice President Prof. James Wani Igga in his residence on the 3rd Day of Eid Al Adha Al Mubarak.

Vice President Igga expressed his happiness to welcome them as South Sudan is a multi religious nation that embraces and promotes all beliefs.

UDSF PARTY ENDORSES PRESIDENT KIIR FOR 2024 GENERAL ELECTIONS

Thursday 13th June 2024;
The United Democratic Salvation Front (UDSF) party Chairman Hon. Rev. Emmanuel Lugör, Member of Revitalized Transitional National Legislative Assembly with party members present a copy of the document endorsing Cde. Salva Kiir Mayardit as the sole candidate and presidential flag bearer for December 2024 elections.

This comes after the party leadership delivered a copy of the letter for the President endorsement to Cde. Prof. James Wani Igga, SPLM 1st Deputy Chairman and Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan.

Cde. Prof. Igga acknowledged the wise decisions of UDSF party to accepting the loyal son and liberator Cde. Kiir Mayardit who spent most of his life in the liberation struggle from Anya-nya movement to the second phase of the SPLM/A bloody struggle for 21 years.

The UDSF party leadership decided to reward His Excellency President Kiir for his dedication for fostering unity, peace maker and who vowed not to take the country back to war. HE President Kiir is the father of the nation and a symbol of national unity.

SPLM 1st Deputy Chairman Presided Over Swearing In Ceremony of newly Appointed State and Administrative Area Chairpersons

Wednesday 29/5/2024;
The newly appointed Governor of Unity State Cde. Riek Beam and Ruweng Chief Administrator Cde. Tiob Manyluak were sworn in as SPLM state and Administrative Area Chairpersons pursuant to the SPLM Chairman Order.

Cde. Prof. James Wani Igga first SPLM Deputy Chairman congratulated the President and SPLM Chairman for trust he bestowed on the comrades to take the responsibility of the State as well as the party. Cde. Prof. Igga advised the leaders to put peace and internal security first. To combat cattle wrestling by the neighbouring communities.

Cde. 1st Deputy Chairman warned them of practicing nepotism within their institutions. Prof. Wani Igga urged them to utilize the 5% oil revenues for social basic services such as health and schools as well as hunger.

Cde. Daniel Awet the 2nd SPLM Deputy Chairman was ready to guide them in handling and resolving states issues, meanwhile the SPLM 3rd Deputy Eng. Kuol Manyang Juuk called on the SPLM masses not to rely on appointed leaders but to utilize fertile land for agriculture to produce food.

The two SPLM State chairpersons Cde. Riek and Cde. Tiob promise to work for unity, resolving border issues and maintain harmony among the citizens of the two areas.
They shall implement the SPLM Core values as enshrined in the SPLM constitution.

The swearing in ceremony was attended by senior SPLM officials from National Secretariat and government institutions among them National Minister of Culture and Heritage Hon. Nadia Arop Dudi and Deputy Speaker of the Council of States Hon. Mary Ayen, chief and local community members.

Vice President Igga Officiates Launching of WASH Presidential Compact ODF Roadmap

Monday 27th May 2024;
The Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan HE Prof. James Wani Igga (PhD), on behalf of the President of the Republic of South Sudan, had officiated the signing ceremony of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Presidential Compact and the Open Defecation Free Roadmap under the theme: “Open Defecation Free South Sudan 2030.”

The President of the Republic of South Sudan HE Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, the first President in Africa and 2nd globally to sign the Compact of the head of state’s initiative conducted at United Nation HQs sidelined meetings in 2023 - New York.

In his keynote remarks, HE the President of the Republic Gen. Kiir Mayardit outlined access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene are basic human rights of every person. HE the President declared to end open defecation in South Sudan by 2030.

In remarks his remarks, HE the President of the Republic needs the people of South Sudan enjoy clean water and sanitation as the basic needs. The President appreciated UNICEF in working together to the government of South Sudan.
By signing the Compact, President Kiir declared a journey towards developed nation.

Hon. Pal Mai Deng Minister thank the UN partners in supporting the country to achieve Sustainable Development Goals 6. The nation is in dare need for safe water and adequate sanitation.

HE Marjan Schippers, Kingdom of Netherlands Ambassador to South Sudan congratulated the nation for taking bold decision to sign the Compact as the First Nation in Africa for safe water and sanitation.

IGAD Envoy for Sudan pays Courtesy to Vice President Igga

Thursday 23rd May 2024;
The IGAD Special Envoy for Sudan Hon. Lawrence Korbandy paid a courtesy to HE Prof. James Wani Igga, the Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan.

Hon. Korbandy was appointed IGAD to Sudan early this year. His role was to mediate the Sudan Peace talks after the country break up into civil war between the Sudan Armed Forces with the Rapid Support Force (RSF).

Visit of the IGAD Special Envoy to Sudan was to brief HE Vice President Igga about his task after taking oath of the office in Djibouti and then to Sudan.

Vice President congratulated Hon. Korbandy for the trust of the Regional body IGAD to South Sudan. HE Prof. Igga encouraged Korbandy to be committed his new assignment to reflect the positive image of the nation.

Vice President Igga Inspects Subsidized Food Stores

Tuesday 21st May 2024;
The Vice President of the Republic HE Prof. James Wani Igga inspected the stores of food commodities to be provided by the government to the looming hunger and skyrocketing prices.
The National Ministry of Trade and Investment had implemented the plan to purchase food sell in a subsidized prices.

The plan from the ministry of Trade and Investment was intended to continue for the next six months and subject for extension for one more year.
Hon. William Anyoun Kuol said there are 37 stations to be opened to civilians. The food commodities include flour, beans, oil and essential commodities.

HE Prof. Wani Igga, advised the people to embark on agriculture by utilizing our God given fertile land to be bread basket and stop importing food from the neighboring countries. Vice President Igga encouraged citizens to cultivate cash crops such as coffee, tea, simsim and cotton.

SPLM GREATER EQUATORIA REGIONAL COMMITTEE READY FOR ENDORSEMENT OF PRESIDENT KIIR

Tuesday 21/5/2024- SPLM House;
The SPLM Equatoria Regional Committee for the Endorsement of Cde. Salva Kiir Mayardit as the party’s flag bearer received briefing from the States Chairpersons confirming preparedness and readiness for the the Endorsement day and date.

Cde. Prof. James Wani Igga, the SPLM 1st Deputy Chairman appreciate the role of the States chairpersons of Eastern, Western and Central Equatoria in mobilizing the SPLM from Bomas to counties ready to endorse the President. Cde. Igga expressed hope for the SPLM membership turn out to overcome the Bahr el Ghazal as well as greater Upper Nile Region to be conducted.

Cde. Mary Apayi Ayiga urged the State leadership to be vigilant as the confirmation for the endorsement shall communicated any time in the nearest future and the regional leaders shall be ready to respond upon calls by the concerned organ.

Cde. Louis Lobong Lojore SPLM State Chairman of EES was hopeful of the mobilization done at the grassroots but expressed fear of the available resources to transport the members to Juba. Cde. Lobong said the challenges which derailed the formation of Equatoria Regional Committee, they have now agreed to form the committee not later than tomorrow Wednesday 22nd May 2024 to facilitate and harmonize the process of endorsement.

Cde. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, SPLM State Chairman of CES, expressed happiness for the Equatoria political elites uniting for a common purpose. Cde. Jadalla appreciated the role played by his predecessor Cde. Emmanuel Adil Anthony for preparing the members ready for endorsement and as well as election.

Equatoria Regional Caucus involved all SPLM members of greater Equatoria in Political Bureau, National Liberation Council, State Chairoersons, State Secretariats, National and state Ministers, MPs and members of independent commissions.

SPLM STATES CHAIRPERSONS SWORN IN TO ASSUME PARTY’S OFFICE DUTY

The SPLM 1st Deputy Chairman Cde. Prof. James Wani Igga, officiate the Swaering In ceremony of Cde. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, Cde. Elia Richard Box and Gola Boyoi Gola, newly appointed SPLM Governor of Central Equatoria State, Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State and Chief Administrator of Greater Pibor Administrative Area as SPLM State and Administrative Area.

Cde. 1st Deputy Chairman Prof. Wani Igga highlighted the first and foremost challenge was for the SPLM State leadership to address the insecurity in all the States and Pibor Administrative Area, to improve the Economy to alleviate hunger and to unite all the SPLM members, mobilize and after the Endorsement of President Kiir in Greater Equatoria and Greater Upper Nile on 25th and 30th of May 2024 respectively.

Cde. Igga assured the SPLM members that the government will manage the current economic crises by providing basic essential commodities and injecting hard currency into the market.

Cde. 2nd Deputy Chairman Daniel Awet Akot, urged the members to learn from past mistakes.
Cde. Eng. Kuol Manyang Juuk calls on the members to combat laziness and be productive to improve country’s GDP.

Cde. Peter Lam Both, the SPLM Secretary General warns SPLM members of criticizing leadership publicly through media outlets. Criticism over social media shall be termed indiscipline. The right forum for criticizing leaders is only through appropriate structure of the party.

Cde. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani on behalf of the states Chairpersons, talked of uniting the SPLM cadres and reconciliation. Cde. Jadalla promised to mobilize the masses to support the SPLM in the coming elections. Assuring of collaborating with the National Secretariat and the SPLM leadership in all affairs of the party.

South Sudanese tallest man Mr. Michael Malith who hailed from Ayod Community together with Hon. Dr. Riek G*i Kok former National Minister of Health paid a courtesy visit to Vice President Wani Igga residence.

The visit came as a thanksgiving to HE Prof. James Wani Igga for special offer of a request dressing suits from People’s Republic of China due to extraordinary height of Michael Malith, his clothing cannot be found on market unless with special request from clothing factories.

Vice President Igga thanked his beloved friend Malith for appreciating his support in-spite of the fact that it’s their duties to facilitate such offer.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security Briefs VP Igga

Friday 17th May 2024;
The leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security headed by the National Minister Hon. Josephine Lagu in company of the Deputy Minister Hon. Lily Albino Akol, the Undersecretary and Director General of the Ministry, briefed the Vice President and Chair of Economic Cluster HE Prof. James Wani Igga on the national agricultural projects.

The meeting came as part of plans and policy of the President to boast the national economy. The national agricultural schemes for both consumer and cash crops. The schemes shall be revitalized according to agro-ecological seasons.

The national schemes are for cultivation of rice, sorgham, maize, potatoes, groundnuts, simsim, sugar cane, cotton etc across South Sudan.
The government plans to inject the oil money to generate and mechanize agriculture. The Ministry calls upon interested investors to apply for agricultural projects in any field of crops and location.

Cde. Gen. Prof. Wani Igga Congratulates the SPLA Veterans on the 41st Anniversary May 16

May 16, 2024;
The Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan, Chairman of Ministerial Economic Cluster, the 1st SPLM Deputy Chairman in charge of Research and Training, warm heartily congratulated the SPLA gallant forces for the landmark achievements during the liberation struggle.

Cde. Prof. Wani Igga paid tribute to the fallen heroes during the course of the liberation struggle and on top the heroic death of Cde. Dr. John Garang De Mabior the founding father of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement / Army (SPLM/SPLA) who lead the Movement with wisdom and patriotism.

Cde. Igga extended revolutionary salutations to the President of the Republic HE Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, the Commander in Chief of South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF), the Chairman of the SPLM, the sole candidate for 2024 Presidential elections and the party’s flag bearer.

HE Cde. Wani Igga congratulated all the SPLA veterans and the people of South Sudan for realizing the dreams and vision of the SPLM.

Cde. Igga joined the SPLM/A in mid 1980s but prior to that date, he worked underground activities and cells for total independence of South Sudan, Juba Wau Malakal (JUWAMA) Patriotic Organization (JAPO).
Later after joining the Movement, Cde. Wani Igga underwent military training and commissioned Captain later on given the Battalion Shakush to command and liberate Equatoria.

Cde. Igga commanded Shakush Battalion through Ethiopia to crossing Jonglei to Equatoria Region to establish Moroto III in Kajo-Keji in late 1980s. With great achievements in the liberation, Cde. Wani Igga was promoted to the rank of Commander and to Political and Military High Command (PMHC).

In 1994 Chukudum 1st SPLM National Convention after the split of the SPLM/ SPLA Torit - Nasir faction of 1991, Cdr. James Wani Igga was elected the 1st SPLM Secretary General.
The position he held till the singing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) 2005.

Cde. Prof. Wani Igga played greater role during the negotiations in the Operation Room as well as in the organization of the SPLM structures and establishment of Civil Authority New Sudan (CANS).
Cde. Wani Igga led the High Level Delegation (Advance Team) during the Pre-Transitional Period to Sudan in April 2005 to establish the SPLM Structures in Sudan, Northern and Southern Sector.

From the day and date Cde. James Wani Igga left to experience bush life and dedicated his life for the freedom of the marginalized people of Sudan and Southern Sudan in particular, he had never betrayed the movement or turn his gun to pull the trigger against his fellow comrades.

Cde. Prof. Wani Igga remains and shall always remain faithful and loyal to the SPLM what so ever hardship and challenges endured despised relegating leadership position for the sake of peace and nothing else but total peace and stability for the hard won freedom of independence for the people of South Sudan.

VICE PRESIDENT IGGA JETS IN JUBA

Monday 13th May 2024;
The Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan who doubles as the 1st SPLM Deputy Chairman returned to Juba after eight days in Maridi County of Western Equatoria State.

Cde. Prof. James Wani Igga was accompanied by the SPLM 2nd Deputy Chairman Gen. Daniel Awet Akot and SPLM Senior officials from National Secretary.
The official visit to Maridi was the opening of the SPLM National Political School and training of the first batch that includes all cadres.

While in Maridi, the 1st SPLM Deputy Chairman inaugurated SPLM Radio FM, visited SPLM farm and other historical sites of the movement.

Upon arrival to JIA, Cde. Prof. James Wani Igga was received by Cde. Peter Lam Both, the SPLM Secretary General, Cde. Mary Apayi Ayiga, the SPLM 2nd Deputy Secretary General for Administration and Finance, Cde. 1ST SPLM DEPUTY CHAIRMAN GRADUATES 300 SPLM POLITICAL SCHOOL INUAGURAL BATCH

Sunday 12th May 2024;
The SPLM 1st Deputy Chairman Cde. Prof. James Wani Igga officiated the graduation ceremony of 300 cadres, the inaugural Batch of the SPLM National Political School established in Maridi County of Western Equatoria State.

In his keynote remarks, Cde. Prof. Wani Igga urged the trained cadres to transmit the knowledge to others in the lower levels of the party. Cde. 1st Deputy Chairman advised the graduated cadres to be closer to the people in the grassroots and to recruit and register more influential members to SPLM as the election approaches.

In another development Cde.1st Deputy reiterated SPLM commitment of implementing its vision and how to sustain and maintain the government after elections. Cde. Prof. Igga assured the SPLM of continuity of the Political School under the School administrator, and next training shall be for a period of three months by lecturers from the brig counterparts political parties.

Cde. Africano Mande on behalf of the people of Maridi and Western Equatoria State through the 1st Deputy Chairman extended warm invitation to HE the President of the Republic and Chairman of the SPLM to visit Western Equatoria State.

The Graduation Ceremony of the first inaugural batch was attended by the senior SPLM officials who addressed the passing out cadres after one week intensive training on party discipline, structure, organs, elections strategies, effective party communication and related subjects on SPLM political ideology.

SPLM FIRST TRAINED CADRES TO BE PASSED OUT

Saturday 11th May 2024;
The SPLM Trained cadres batch from mostly from Western Equatoria State Counties shall be passed out on Sunday 12th May 2024 after a 6 day intensive training from the 7th through the 11th Day of May 2024.

The training were conducted in the SPLM National Political School inaugurated on the 7th of May 2024 by Cde. Prof. James Wani Igga, the 1st SPLM Deputy Chairman responsible for Research and Training and the Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan.

The trainees to be passed out categorized into four classes of Intellectuals, Women League, Youth League and the Chiefs. The trainees from all walks of life include senior government officials who are ministers, MPs, County Commissioners, SPLM Members from various organs of the party, senior civil servants, women and youth leaders.

The trainers comprised of 1st Deputy Chairman, 2nd Deputy Chairman, some members of Political Bureau, National Secretaries as well as SPLM Senior Directors.
Comrade 1st and 2nd Deputies were interacting with fellow comrades in spirit of comradeship within the compus.

SPLM LAUNCHES CADRES TRAINING AT MARIDI NATIONAL POLITICAL SCHOOL

Wednesday 8th May 2024;
The SPLM 2nd Deputy Chairman Cde. Daniel Awet Akot, in charge for Administration and Discipline, on behalf of the SPLM 1st Deputy Chairman Cde. Prof. James Wani Igga, in charge of the SPLM Training and Research, rung the first bell launching training of cadres at the SPLM National Political School.

Cde. Awet Akot congratulated the SPLM for establishment of the political school that shall be a model for training of cadres and Human Resource development. The National Political School shall promote nationalism and patriotism and custodian for the history of liberation.

The the first lecturers were in attendance under the guidance of Cde. Amb. Antipas Nyok, the Acting Principal of the SPLM National Political School.
Cde. Dr. John Oryem, the National Secretary for Training and Research, Cde. Bol Makueng National Secretary for External Relations. The trainees were drawn from Western Equatoria State Counties from four categories of intellectuals, Women league, Youth and traditional chiefs.

FIRST DEPUTY CHAIRMAN INAUGURATES SPLM POLITICAL SCHOOL AND FM RADIO

Tuesday 7th May 2024
The SPLM 1st Deputy Chairman and Vice President of the Republic Cde. Prof. James Wani Igga together with the SPLM entourage inaugurated the SPLM National Political School as well as the SPLM Radio FM.

The two important Institutions shall play great role in capacity building of the SPLM cadres from across the nation. The National Political School was approved during the SPLM Retreat in Lo’bonok 2018.
The School shall contribute to promote and carry over the history of the revolution struggle.

On the other hand, the SPLM Radio shall emancipate and disseminate valuable information and educate the public on social, economic and political issues.
The SPLM Radio FM shall be used effectively during the upcoming general election as far as the civic education is concerned.

The SPLM Members in Maridi town converged in a very big political rally in Maridi town. Thousands of SPLM members turn up to receive and hear from the top higher leadership of the the nation as well as of the party.

While addressing the masses of the SPLM members, HE Vice President and 1st SPLM Deputy Chairman Prof. Wani Igga conveyed revolutionary greetings from the President of the Republic who is also the SPLM Chairman.

Vice President Igga congratulations the people of Maridi for being among the first to free themselves from the oppression since 1991, during the liberation struggle.

Cde. 1st Deputy Chairman assured the people of Maridi for the holding of the general Elections as scheduled in December and calls on the people of Maridi to prepare for the upcoming endorsement of the SPLM Chairman soon in Juba.

Cde. Daniel Awet Akot SPLM 2nd Deputy Chairman encouraged calls for unity and the people should embarked on agriculture and preserved the natural resources especially the forest to protect the animal species from extinction.

Cde. Africano Mande was empresses by the SPLM decision to establish SPLM Political School in Maridi as a precious gift of liberation and shall contribute in other academic development in the area.

The visit of the SPLM Senior leaders shall continue in the state with training and orientation to SPLM as well as intellectual regardless of political affiliation.

VICE PRESIDENT IGGA ARRIVES MARIDI

Monday 6th May 2024
The Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan arrived Maridi and was received multitudes of Maridi citizens on top was the State Governor HE Alfred Fatayu, State Advisors, Ministers, MPs, SPLM Members and SPLM IOs members Senior Military officers, religious leaders, chiefs, school children and general public.

Arrival arrival at Maridi Air strip was received by Military Guard of Honour. From the Air Strip HE was accompanied to the Maridi SPLM House.

HE Vice President Prof. Igga paid tribute to the mausoleum of late Veterans Gen Ali Gbatala and Gen. Edward Bukulo.
There after Vice President received Security briefing from the concerned organs.

VICE PRESIDENT LEFT JIA FOR MARIDI

Monday 6th May 2024
HE Vice President Prof. James Wani Igga who doubles as the 1st Deputy Chairman of SPLM left Juba for Maridi to inaugurate the SPLM Political School.

Cde. 1st Deputy was seen off by the SPLM 2nd Secretary General Cde. Mary Apayi, Minister of Trade and Investment, Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Food Security and SPLM Senior officials.
