𝐉𝐔𝐁𝐀, 𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝟏𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 — Vice President of the Republic and Chairperson of the Service Cluster, H.E. Hussein Abdelbagi Akol on Wednesday returned to Juba following a fruitful three-week visit to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Vice President was received upon arrival by Cabinet Ministers, Members of the National Legislative Assembly, senior officials and staff from his office, as well as members of the wider public.

His return marks the resumption of his national duties as he continues to contribute to the implementation of government priorities, strengthen service delivery, and advance initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of the people of South Sudan.

It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that I learned of the passing of Hon. Molana Mayen Wol Jong, who departed this life on Tuesday, 4th August 2026, at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya. His untimely passing has come as a great shock not only to his family and loved ones but also to the entire nation of South Sudan, which has lost one of its most dedicated and distinguished public servants.

Hon. Molana Mayen devoted his life to the service of humanity and his country. Before joining government, he made significant contributions through the humanitarian sector, where he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of vulnerable communities. He later served with distinction in the Office of the First Vice President of the Republic of Sudan and, following the independence of South Sudan, continued his exemplary public service in the Office of the President and in various leadership roles within the Ministry of Petroleum.

Throughout his remarkable career, Hon. Molana Mayen demonstrated exceptional professionalism, integrity, humility, and an unwavering commitment to national service. His dedication to duty and his selfless contributions to nation-building earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues, friends, and citizens alike. His legacy will remain a lasting inspiration to generations of South Sudanese.

Beyond his official responsibilities, Hon. Molana Mayen was a compassionate mentor who invested his time and wisdom in nurturing young people. He believed in empowering the next generation through guidance, encouragement, and opportunity. The overwhelming grief expressed by so many young men and women across the country is a testament to the profound impact he had on countless lives. He was not only a respected leader but also a father figure and role model to many.

His passing leaves an irreplaceable void, not only within the Kuac Ayok Community, where he hailed from, and Warrap State, but also across the Republic of South Sudan. While we mourn his departure, we also celebrate a life defined by service, kindness, and unwavering dedication to the common good. The greatest tribute we can pay to his memory is to uphold the values he lived by and continue the noble work he began in serving our people with honesty, compassion, and excellence.

On behalf of my family, my office, Service Delivery Cluster and on my own behalf, I extend my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to his beloved family, relatives, friends, in-laws, the people of Kuac Ayok, the people of Warrap State, and all South Sudanese who have been touched by his life and service.

During this difficult time, I pray that the Almighty God grants you strength, comfort, and peace. May the soul of Hon. Molana Mayen Wol Jong rest in eternal peace.

𝐉𝐔𝐁𝐀, 𝟐𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 — The Vice President of the Republic and Chairperson of the Service Cluster, H.E. Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, departed Juba this afternoon for Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He was seen off at Juba International Airport by some Cabinet ministers, National MPs, and senior staff from the Office of the Vice President.

The Office of the Vice President and Chairperson of the Service Cluster informs the general public that the 40th Day Memorial Prayer in honor of the life and legacy of the Late Mr. Moses Agany Deng will be held on Saturday, 25th July 2026, at Medan Kampala, Juba.

Before his passing, Mr. Moses Agany Deng served as the Deputy Director of Protocol in the Office of the Vice President. He dedicated six years of faithful service to the Office, demonstrating professionalism, commitment, and loyalty throughout his tenure.

The public is warmly invited to join the family, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers in honoring his memory and praying for the peaceful repose of his soul.

𝐉𝐔𝐁𝐀, 𝐉𝐔𝐋𝐘 𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 — Vice President of the Republic and Chairperson of the Service Cluster, H.E. Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, today met with a UNICEF delegation led by Noala Skinner, the UNICEF Country Representative in South Sudan, to discuss collaboration in the health and education sectors.

During the meeting, UNICEF, one of the government's key development and humanitarian partners, briefed the Vice President on its ongoing programmes supporting health and education, particularly initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of vulnerable children across the country.

The discussions further focused on preparedness and preventive measures against the possible outbreak of Ebola in South Sudan, with both sides emphasizing the importance of coordinated efforts to strengthen disease surveillance, public awareness, and emergency response.

Vice President Hussein Abdelbagi reaffirmed the government's commitment to providing a peaceful and secure environment that enables humanitarian organizations to deliver essential services to communities in need. He also reiterated the government's commitment to meeting its co-financing obligations in support of humanitarian and development programmes.

The Vice President noted that the government is taking proactive steps to prevent the entry and spread of Ebola by enhancing national preparedness and working closely with health partners.

Both reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the health and education sectors, with a particular focus on improving the well-being, protection, and future of children throughout the country.

𝐉𝐔𝐁𝐀, 𝐉𝐔𝐍𝐄 𝟑𝟎, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 — The Vice President of the Republic and Chairperson of the Service Cluster, H.E. Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, today received a progress report from the National Social Insurance Fund (NSIF) led by its Managing Director, Hon. Reech Ring Bol, on the achievements and challenges facing the newly established institution.

During the meeting, the leadership of the NSIF briefed the Vice President on the progress made in developing the institution's policies, operational systems, organizational structures, and overall work plans aimed at establishing an effective social insurance framework in the country.

The delegation highlighted several achievements since the establishment of the Fund, while also raising key challenges, particularly the lack of adequate funding to support its operations and implementation of planned activities.

Vice President Hussein reaffirmed the Service Cluster's commitment to supporting the National Social Insurance Fund and addressing the challenges hindering its effective functioning. He emphasized the importance of the institution in strengthening social protection and improving the welfare of workers across South Sudan.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with the Vice President pledging the cluster’s support to strengthen the National Social Insurance Fund and enable it to effectively fulfill its mandate of protecting workers and their families through the administration of social security and social insurance programs.

The NSIF is expected to play a critical role in providing financial protection to employees and their dependents against various social and economic risks, while contributing to a more secure and resilient workforce in South Sudan.

𝐉𝐔𝐁𝐀, 𝐉𝐔𝐍𝐄 𝟑𝟎, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 — The Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan and Chairperson of the Service Cluster, H.E. Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, today met with the IGAD Special Envoy to South Sudan, Ambassador Moussa Djama Ali, to discuss the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement and preparations for the country's general elections.

During the meeting, Ambassador Moussa reaffirmed IGAD's continued commitment to supporting the implementation of the peace agreement and promoting dialogue among the parties as South Sudan prepares for the December 2026 elections.

Vice President Hussein commended IGAD for its unwavering support to the Government of South Sudan, noting the regional bloc's significant role in facilitating the 2018 Revitalized Peace Agreement and its continued engagement in the country's peace and electoral processes.

He reiterated the government's commitment to fully implementing the peace agreement and ensuring that the country is prepared to conduct free and credible general elections as scheduled in December 2026.

𝐉𝐔𝐁𝐀, 𝐉𝐔𝐍𝐄 𝟐𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 — The Vice President of the Republic and Chairperson of the Service Cluster, H.E Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, on Monday met with the U.S. Ambassador to South Sudan, Michael J. Adler, to discuss cooperation, particularly in the health and education sectors.

During the meeting, the U.S. Ambassador briefed the Vice President on the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of South Sudan and the United States to support and financing the country's health sector.

Vice President Abdelbagi reaffirmed the government's commitment to co-financing the health sector and ensuring the payment of salaries, especially in health and education, as part of efforts to improve service delivery across the country.

The U.S. Ambassador reiterated the United States' continued support for the people of South Sudan, while emphasizing the importance of peace and stability in the country.

The two officials also touched on the upcoming inter-party dialogue ahead of the anticipated December 2026 general elections.
