MOP LEADERSHIP MEETING WITH THE MEMBERS OF STANDING SPECIALIZED COMMITTEE OF PUBLIC ACCOUNTS, IN TRANSITIONAL NATIONAL LAGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY (TLNA), FOR VALIDATING SEMINAR:

Juba, South Sudan, August 27th, 2026, Eng. Lual Chol Dak, Director General for Petroleum Exploration and Production Authority, has chaired the Validating Seminar, and addressed the proceedings of its interactive meeting, attended by prominent officials and members of Parliament, to discuss enhancing transparency and digital equality in the petroleum sector. The Director General of Petroleum Exploration and Production,Eng. Lual Chol Dak welcomed the members of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Accounts, commending their significant presence and their commitment to following up on the work of the technical and oversight committees.

In his opening remarks, Director General Lual Chol Dak emphasized the strategic importance of the seminar and the discussion sessions, noting the reading of the founding resolution and the establishment of guidelines for joint action between the Authority and legislative institutions to solidify the foundations of accountability and transparency, promote equality, and facilitate digital transformation.

This focus, reflects the Ministry of Petroleum's growing interest in integrating digital inclusion concepts and developing technological infrastructure within its overall plans, ensuring equal opportunities and modernizing oversight mechanisms for the efficient management of petroleum resources.

PETROLEUM AUTHORITIES MOVE TO BRIDGE OIL SECTOR GAPS BY ASSESSING THIRTY FIVE GULF PETROLEUM IN THAILAND

Bangkok, Tuesday, August 25th, 2026, in our top story, the government of South Sudan has dispatched a high-level technical delegation to Thailand to execute a rigorous due diligence assessment on Thirty Five Gulf Petroleum. This critical mission comes as Thirty-Five Gulf Petroleum positions itself to acquire 30% shares previously managed by Malaysia’s Petronas.

The technical assessment follows intensive deliberations between Petroleum Ministry officials, National oil Corporation Nilepet and company management to ensure prospective partners possess the financial and operational capacity to sustain production.

PARLIAMENTARY PETROLEUM COMMITTEE ENGAGES THE MINISTRY OF PETROLEUM & STAKEHOLDERS:

Juba, South Sudan, August 21st, 2026, the newly reconstituted Parliamentary Standing Specialized Committee on Petroleum, has held its first major introductory meeting with the Ministry of Petroleum, and key industry stakeholders.

The strategic engagement marks a shift from reflecting on past performance to actively strengthening legislative oversight across South Sudan's Oil sector.

Hon. Dr. Santino Ayuel Longar, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum, has laid out the government's operational focus, placing increase of oil production, and local capacity at the top of the agenda. Dr. Longar, noted that, ramping up Crude oil output, is the fastest route to stabliszing public finances, he stressed.

Dr. Santino Ayuel Longar, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum, has inspected the final touches and ongoing construction work at the Ministry of Petroleum building, located along Juba-Yei Road, on Thursday, August 20th, 2026. to assess the progress of the work and the final preparations for the project's completion.

Juba, South Sudan, Friday, August 14th, Mr. Garang Deng Mayath, Director General for Administration and Finance has praised the role and contributions of the late Hon. Molana Mayen Wol Jong, the former Undersecretary, and Senior Technical Advisor, Ministry of Petroleum.

This came during the final prayers being held on Friday for the soul of the late Hon. Molana Mayen Wol Jong, Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Petroleum, in the presence of Hon. Peter Charleman Cawach, Presidential Advisor on Peace, Acting Governor of Warrap State Ms. Aluel Garang, representative of Western Bahr Algazal State, a number of senior government officials, and leaders from the oil sector.

The prayer service was attended by the deceased's family, colleagues, and friends, who expressed deep sorrow on his passing and recalled his national contributions and professional career in serving the country, particularly, his efforts in the Petroleum sector.

Mr. Garang Deng has commended the contributions of the late Hon. Mayen Wol Jong, to the Ministry of Petroleum and to the country in general. He also conveyed a message of condolence from the Ministry of Petroleum and its employees, in person of Hon. Dr. Santino Ayuel Longar, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum, describing the country, as having suffered a great loss of the passing on of an important figure. He extended the condolences of the Undersecretary of the Ministry, to the family of the late Hon. Mayen Wol Jong.

URGENT NOTICE: Funeral Prayers for Late Molana Mayen Wol Jong

The High-Level Committee, together with the family of the late Molana Mayen Wol Jong, wishes to inform family members, friends, relatives, colleagues, dignitaries, and the general public that the funeral prayers for the late Molana Mayen Wol Jong will be held tomorrow, Friday, 14th August 2026, at 11:00 AM at his residence in Waralel, Kuajok.

Those coming from outside Kuajok are kindly advised to arrive early, while those within Kuajok are requested to assemble at the residence by 10:00 AM, one hour before the prayers begin.

Your presence and prayers are highly appreciated as we continue to honor and bid farewell to our beloved Molana Mayen Wol Jong.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
