Parliament Pays Tribute to the Nation’s Deceased: Albino John Lako and Adele Fustino

The Transitional National Legislative Assembly has paid tribute to the late Honarable Albino John Lako and Honarable Adele Fustino, who passed away this week.

In his message of condolences to the bereaved families, First Deputy Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly, Hon. Ambrose Lomin Pitia, urged the families to take pride in the lives and service of their loved ones, who served the nation with loyalty, dedication, and distinction.

He encouraged the bereaved families to remain patient, strong, and united during this difficult period of grief, noting that the contributions of the deceased to the nation and their communities will be remembered and honored.

Parliament extends its deepest condolences to the families, relatives, colleagues, and friends of the late Honarable Albino John Lako and Honarable Adele Fustino. May their souls rest in eternal peace, and may God grant strength and comfort to all those mourning their loss.

First Deputy Speaker Oversees Handover of Parliamentary Committees

The First Deputy Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly Rt.Hon, Ambrose Lomin Pitya, is overseeing the formal handover of offices to the newly appointed chairs and vice chairs of the standing parliamentary committees.

The transition follows the issuance of House Order No. 9 of 2026, which relieved acting chairs and the deputies of their duties in accordance with constitutional provisions requiring committee leadership to be renewed every two years.

The Assembly leadership clarified that the new appointments span 35 committees and were made based on competence, experience, geographic and political representation, gender balance, and consultation with various political blocs.

The Parliamentary Presidency emphasized that the restructuring aims to revitalize parliamentary functions, enabling committees to effectively oversee the implementation of the peace agreement, approve the national budget, and enact key legislation during the remainder of the transitional period.

In his remarks during the handover ceremony, First Deputy Speaker Lomin urged the incoming committee chairs to prioritize the national interest over party affiliations and focus on serving the people of South Sudan.

The First Deputy Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly, Rt Hon. Ambros Lomin Pitia, received on Friday a delegation of students from Blessed Junior School at his office, led by the School President.

During the courtesy visit, Hon. Ambros Lomin emphasized the importance of education and the role of young people in building the nation’s future. He particularly highlighted the vital role of girls in community and national development when they are given the opportunity to be educated.

As part of the visit, the First Deputy Speaker presented the School President with a copy of the Education Act and its policies, noting that the law is "more than just a book. It is a symbol of knowledge and responsibility, and of the importance of understanding the laws that govern education in the country."

The students expressed their appreciation for the warm reception and for the First Deputy Speaker’s encouragement to excel in their studies and remain committed to education.

The First Deputy Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly is calling for national reconciliation as a vital step toward securing lasting peace in South Sudan.

Rt. Hon. Ambros Lomin Pitia made the remarks during an interview with Radio Miraya at the National Parliament building on Wednesday.

Lomin appealed to the government to utilize the country’s upcoming 15th Independence Anniversary celebrations as an opportunity to restore trust between the state and its citizens.

Turning his focus to the upcoming elections, the deputy speaker urged citizens to choose their representatives based on merit rather than politics. He emphasized that voters should back candidates who genuinely represent the people and deliver essential services, rather than voting strictly along party lines.

Lomin added that participating in the elections and shaping South Sudan's future is an inherent right of every citizen.

TNLA First Deputy Speaker to Attend Late Artist Vivian Nyachan’s Memorial Service

The First Deputy Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA), Ambrose Lomin Pitia, has received an official invitation to attend the final memorial service and closing prayer for the late national artist Vivian Nyachan on the 30th of July.

Upon accepting the invitation from the event's organizing committee, Pitia praised Nyachan’s profound national legacy. He noted that throughout her musical career, her art served as a powerful platform for promoting national unity and actively rejecting hate speech.

The First Deputy Speaker reaffirmed the government's commitment to honoring the late artist as a national icon of peace, citing her enduring musical and humanitarian contributions that have immortalized her name across the country.

The First Deputy Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ambrose Lomin Pitia, stated that the ongoing violence in South Sudan should not be viewed as a genuine rebellion, but rather as acts of murder committed by individuals against members of their own communities.

Speaking during a graduation ceremony for diplomats in Juba, Pitia emphasized the critical need to remain committed to peace across the nation.

He explained that violence stemming from disputes over livestock, women, and land—or carried out under the guise of rebellion—creates fabricated conflicts that ultimately result in the killing of innocent people within their own communities.

The First Deputy Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ambrose Lomin Pitia, attended the graduation ceremony and Award of professional certificates to 229 diplomats at the Institute of Diplomatic Studies in Juba.

The diplomats successfully completed their training course, which ran from 16 March 2026 to 25 May 2026. The ceremony marked an important milestone in strengthening professional diplomatic skills and enhancing the capacity of South Sudan’s foreign service personnel.

Speaking during the event, leaders commended the graduates for their commitment and dedication to advancing diplomacy, peacebuilding, and international cooperation in the country.

The First Deputy Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ambrose Lomin Pitia, received an invitation to attend the inauguration ceremony of a medical laboratory at Koda Private University, which will be held soon.

According to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kuda University, Molana Robert Lomoro the facility will include several specialized laboratories in fields such as Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Dussection Room/Anatomy laboratory and skill laboratory/anatomy museum (human medicine), Skill lab (Botany & Zoology) and Physics.

During the meeting, both parties discussed ways to support the development of the university and provide legal assistance.

The university administration also commended the leadership of parliament for reducing private university tuition fees from 150 million SSP to 60 million SSP noting that the decision will help improve the standard of education in the country.
