ICT MINISTER DEPARTS FOR CHINA-AFRICA DIGITAL SEMINAR IN HANGZHOU

The Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services, Hon. Ateny Wek Ateny, has arrived at Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa, as he transits on to China-Africa Digital Conference in Hangzhou, China.

The Hon. Minister was received on transit by the Deputy Head of Mission in Ethiopia, Amb. Boutrous Thok, and other senior embassy officials.

The ICT Minister is scheduled to address the international digital conference, starting on Wednesday, 2026.

The Acting Chairperson of the Ministerial High-level Committee on Economic Reforms, Hon. Ateny Wek Ateny, who’s also the Deputy Chair, met and held a briefing session with the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Joseph Ngere Paciko, on the work and progress of the Economic Committee.

The two leaders met on Wednesday at the Parliamentary offices, at the request of the Rt. Hon. Speaker, who sought updates from the committee.

In a lengthy discussion, both sides agreed the High-level Economic Committee was doing well, based on the projections; the Parliamentary leadership however asked the Committee to do more in the economic sector.

The Parliamentary leadership asked the Committee to prepare themselves for appearance before parliamentarians in the coming days.

The Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services, Ateny Wek Ateny, on Monday held talks with the Egyptian Consul to South Sudan, Ahmed Salah Sabra, reaffirming the two nations’ commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation in key strategic sectors. The meeting centered on exploring avenues for enhanced partnership in information technology, digital transformation and postal services.

During the meeting, ICT Minister floated a request for media training opportunities for South Sudanese journalists and media professionals, particularly ahead of the December, 2026 elections.

South Sudan and United States have discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the information and communication technology sector following talks between Information Minister Ateny Wek Ateny and US Ambassador Michael J. Adler.
The US envoy reaffirmed Washington commitment to ongoing partnership with South Sudan.


The Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services, Hon. Ateny Wek Ateny, held talks on Monday during a courtesy visit by the US envoy.

In a statement to the media, Hon. Ateny expressed South Sudan’s gratitude to the government and the people of the United States of America for their historical contribution to the liberation struggle. The Hon. Minister reiterated government commitment to full bilateral cooperation with the US.

Meanwhile, United States Ambassador Michael J. Adler said South Sudan and the United States have a lot to gain from the existing relations, adding that both countries would continue to partner on matters of mutual interest.

SOUTH SUDAN AND ATU DISCUSS EQUITABLE TELECOMMUNICATIONS SERVICES ON THE CONTINENT

The Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services, Hon. Ateny Wek Ateny, and the ATU outgoing Secretary General, Mr. John Komo, have discussed equitable communications services for the vulnerable and disabled communities on the continent.

During the meeting, Hon. Ateny Wek commended the work of the outgoing ATU Secretary General, Eng. John Komo. The Minister also expressed South Sudan’s commitment to sovereign and international obligations.

In a courtesy call, the outgoing Secretary General for Africa Telecommunications Union also introduced the newly-elected Secretary General, a Zambian, Eng. Kesiaz Mwale, who will be at the ATU secretariat for the next four years.

Africa Telecommunications Union is a continental organization responsible for rolling out I lCT infrastructure and communications systems in Africa. Many countries across the continent are signatories.

The Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services, Hon. Ateny Wek Ateny has arrived in the Kenyan Capital, leading a ministerial high-level delegation for a bilateral energy meeting with Kenyan government.

Formed recently, the Ministerial High-level Committee on Economic Reforms, MHC-ER, has sent a Sub-committee delegation to hold discussions on ever-increasing energy prices in South Sudan. The Subcommittee is expected to start formal bilateral talks on Monday with Kenyan counterparts.

In the delegation is Hon. Wek Mamer Kuol, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development; Hon. Dr. Labanya Mathias; Minister of Trade and Industry; Hon. Thok Turuk, Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning. Charge’ De Affairs of South Sudan embassy in Kenyan, Amb. Bol Nyuol received the delegation upon arrival.

ICT LEADERSHIP CONVENES MONTHLY MEETING TO ADDRESS PERTINENT MINISTERIAL MATTERS

The Ministry of ICT leadership has convened a regular meeting to discuss a wide range of institutional issues.

Addressing the meeting, the Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services, Hon. Ateny Wek Ateny, called on the senior leadership to foster coordination between departments and parastatals.

The Hon. Minister also took the opportunity to introduce and welcome the new leadership members, including the Chairs of SSBC and Media Authority boards, who got appointed recently.

Hon. Ateny also advised the new leadership members to bring new energy and dedication to their assignments.

ICT MINISTER AND GOVERNMENT SPOKESPERSON ATENY BRIEFS HE. THE PRESIDENT

The Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services, Hon. Ateny Wek Ateny, has submitted his Ministry ICT report to the President.

The Hon. Minister gave his His Excellency the President a comprehensive report on the activities, projects and strategic plans of the ICT sector - among them is the proposed ICT Authority.

The Minister pitched his proposal for the creation of an ICT Authority, whose mandate is to manage and oversee internet and digital market.

Several countries including the region have established ICT bodies to embrace and monitor the benefits of emerging technologies.

In a statement to the media, Hon. Ateny said he had productive briefing with His Excellency, the President and appreciated the support extended to his Ministry from the highest office of the land.
