We call for the immediate release of Aweil East Youth Union Secretary General, Mr. Kuol Amet Majok who was arrested last night in Juba by powerful individual.

You cannot silence the voices that stand for truth and justice. Leadership should be built on conviction, not on coercion. Do not impose your will on people when your actions fail to convince them as a leader.

The truth will always find its voice.

Singer Bro Winner Urges Kiir to Forgive and Release Bol Mel

South Sudanese singer Bro Winner has appealed to President Salva Kiir Mayardit to release former Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, who he says should be allowed to return to his family and business.

Bro Winner said he does not know much about politics but appealed to President Kiir to forgive Bol Mel and treat him like his own children.

“President Kiir, the leader with a good heart, please release Bol Mel so that he can take care of his family and business. His children are suffering,” Bro Winner said.

“I don’t know anything about politics as a singer, but please forgive him for whatever he has done to you. Take him like your own children, such as Adut Kiir, Thiik Kiir and Anok Kiir,” he added.

Bro Winner is also known for promoting unity and peace in South Sudan. He has travelled to different states, including Aweil, Rumbek, Bor and Malakal, where he has performed at peace concerts aimed at bringing communities together.

Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel was dismissed from his position as Vice President of South Sudan in November 2025. He is currently under house arrest.

Bol Mel is also the CEO of ARC Company, a South Sudanese company involved in road construction and other infrastructure projects in the country.

The Juba — Nimule Highway reportedly generates more than 60 billion South Sudanese pounds every month in revenue collection, yet the road remains in this very sad condition. Why isn’t more of that revenue being reinvested in rehabilitating and upgrading highway so it can generate even greater economic benefits for the South Sudanese and make it easy for drivers who are driving long distances across East African communities Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda?

Meanwhile, Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel has at least demonstrated an effort to construct the Juba–Bor Highway using South Sudanese resources. Yet he continues to be portrayed as the problem, while those who appear to be doing nothing but collecting South Sudanese money through their companies in every source of incomes country money for the nation often escape the same scrutiny.

Accountability should be applied equally. If we are serious about developing South Sudan, we should ask where the public money is going yet figures are announced every month, what has been delivered, no salary for many some good months and who is actually contributing to the country’s infrastructure not simply target one individual who’s done great.

When you hear politicians speaking louder out about issues affecting South Sudanese people but refusing to resign from the government, you should question their intentions. If they genuinely believe government is failing and they are part of that government, why not take responsibility and resign officially rather than talking about being denied meetings the president and issues affecting Nation?

You cannot claim that the government is not doing the right thing while continuing to serve under the same leadership. If you are part of the system, you also share the responsibility for its failures.

Otherwise, people may reasonably question whether some politicians are raising these issues merely to silence criticism or gain personal benefits.

The same false coup and corruption allegations that were used against Gen. King Paul Malong Awan Anei are now being used against Former Vice President for Economic Cluster Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel. It is really very unfortunate that some leaders from Aweil appear to advance their political ambitions by exploiting the downfall of their own sons in exchange for power and positions.

Greater Aweil will not easily produce leaders of the caliber of these two prominent figures again. Those who believe they are benefiting from their downfall should remember that political fortunes can change. One day, those celebrating the fall of today’s leaders may find themselves facing the same fate as emerging politicians seek to rise at their expense.

Counsel Sarah Dr. Nyot the wife of former Vice President for Economic Cluster, Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, wrote to H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit on date January 29, 2026 her birthday pleading with the President for the release of her beloved husband.

When I said in many of my previous posts that Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel sees H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit as a father figure, this is what I meant in the letter.

Sometimes, the person who raises you politically, guides you, gives you opportunities, and helps shape your journey is not far from being a father in your life. Political mentorship can create a bond that goes beyond positions and titles and Kiir is the one.

That is why I believe the relationship between Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel and President Salva Kiir Mayardit should be understood not only through the lens of politics, but also through the lens of loyalty, mentorship, and a deeply personal bond.
