South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) Managing Director John Madol Panther has left office after being formally suspended by Information Minister Ateny Wek Ateny, following a dispute with the SSBC Board.

The board accused Panther of mismanagement, while reports say tensions escalated during his confrontation with the board chairman.

Susan Alphonse has been appointed acting managing director as an investigation is expected. The move follows President Salva Kiir’s order for an urgent overhaul of SSBC ahead of the December elections.
