NASIR COUNTY COMMISSIONER RETURNS TO NASIR TOWN.
2nd September 2026.

The Commissioner of Nasir County, Hon. James Gatwech Jock Deng, and the Commissioner of Ulang County, Hon. Justin Nhial Batoang, arrived in Nasir Town today from Juba.

During their stay in Juba, the two commissioners attended a series of official meetings and engaged with members of the Nasir and Ulang communities on key peacebuilding, reconciliation, development, and community engagement programs.

A large number of residents of Nasir County turned out today to warmly welcome their commissioner, Hon. James Gatwech Jock Deng, as he returns to the county to begin his second appointment as the commissioner and to continue serving the people of Nasir.

The County commissioner appreciates the people of Nasir for their warm reception and continued support for peace, development, and stability in the county.

THE NASIR COUNTY COMMISSIONER HON. JAMES GATWECH JOCK DENG ARRIVES IN JUBA FOR OFFICIAL PROGRAMS.

Nasir County Commissioner, Hon. James Gatwech Jock Deng, arrived in Juba this afternoon from Malakal, where he was sworn in as the Nasir County Commissioner and, at the same time, as the Nasir County Chairperson of the SPLM Party.

During his stay in Juba, Hon. Commissioner will initiate several meetings concerning the continuation of the soft-approach peace process, as well as key programs for the second phase of the initiative.

The second phase will place greater emphasis on development, lasting stability, social cohesion, and the implementation of government-proposed security and developmental programs in Nasir County.

The Commissioner’s Office remains committed to supporting peace, stability, development, and improved services for the people of Nasir County.

‎Today, His Excellency Cde. James Koang Chuol Ranley, Governor of Upper Nile State and Chairperson of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) in the state, today presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed SPLM county chairpersons for Renk, Nasir, Maiwut, Melut, Maban, and Longochuk counties.

‎Among those sworn in was Hon. James Gatwech Jock Deng Meng, Commissioner of Nasir County and the newly appointed SPLM Chairperson for Nasir County.
‎
‎Addressing the gathering, Cde. James Koang urged the newly sworn-in comrades to strengthen the Party at the grassroots level and remain committed to promoting peace, stability, unity, and development across Upper Nile State.

‎The State SPLM Chairperson further encouraged the new county party leaders to work closely with their respective communities and mobilize citizens as the country moves toward the forthcoming general elections.

‎The ceremony was attended by Cde. Deng Akuei Kak, Deputy SPLM State Chairperson, members of the SPLM Caucus, Party supporters, youth and women representatives, as well as other well-wishers who gathered to witness the swearing-in of the new county SPLM leadership.

NASIR COUNTY 'S NEWLY APPOINTED COMMISSIONER HON. CHANGKUOTH RUON JAL GAVE REMARKS DURING HIS INUAGRATION CEREMONY IN MALAKAL.

During his inauguration ceremony held on 6 January 2026, the Commissioner of Nasir County reaffirmed his commitment to leadership, peace, and service.

He pledged to work toward making Nasir County great again and emphasized the importance of collective collaboration with neighboring county commissioners to promote community-to-community peace dialogues, particularly with Baliet, Akoka, Ulang, and Longechuk counties.

The Commissioner further highlighted the need to restructure the SPLM party in Nasir County and called upon the State Secretariat to provide support to county party secretariats.

He concluded by assuring the public of his dedication to faithfully deliver the responsibilities entrusted to him, both as County Commissioner and as the SPLM County Chairman.

The oath-taking ceremony of the Commissioner of Nasir County, Hon. Changkuoth Ruon Jal, was successfully conducted today at the State Secretariat.

Hon. Changkuoth Ruon Jal was sworn in today after his swearing in on 26th January 2026 as the Commissioner and Chairman of the SPLM Nasir County, marking a significant step toward strengthening party leadership and unity at the county level.

The ceremony was attended by state officials, party members, and invited guests, who expressed confidence in his leadership and commitment to peace, service delivery, and development in Nasir County.
