๐๐ฎ๐๐ง๐๐, ๐๐ง๐ ๐จ๐ฅ๐ | ๐๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐๐๐ - The Senior Presidential Envoy on Special Programs, Hon. Adut Kiir, today represented His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit,at the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union on Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa, held in Luanda, Angola.
Addressing the distinguished Assembly, Hon. Adut Kiir conveyed the Presidentโs message of solidarity and reaffirmed South Sudanโs commitment to the African Unionโs collective efforts to prevent conflicts, silence the guns and advance sustainable peace across the continent.
In her address, the Senior Presidential Envoy stressed that Africa must move from reaction to prevention and from declarations to action, emphasizing that African challenges require African-led solutions anchored in political will, stronger institutions and continental solidarity.
Drawing from South Sudanโs own experience, she noted that conflict leaves behind deep wounds, displacement, destruction and underdevelopment, reminding the Assembly that peace is not an event, but a process that requires inclusivity, particularly the meaningful participation of women and youth.
The Envoy further reaffirmed South Sudanโs commitment to the implementation of the Revitalised Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan, while highlighting the countryโs continued political efforts toward democratic elections scheduled for December 2026.
She also highlighted President Kiirโs establishment of the Inter-Party Dialogue Committee on election-related matters and peace, which is expected to engage political actors both within and outside the country, including holdout groups.
She emphasized that inclusive political dialogue and democratic processes remain essential to breaking the cycle of conflict and securing a peaceful political future for South Sudan.
โThe transformation of Africa is not a task for tomorrow; it is an urgent work of today. Let us walk this path together, with courage, unity and a firm belief that Africaโs time is now.โ
The Senior Envoy in conclusion expressed South Sudanโs appreciation to the Government and people of Angola for the warm hospitality extended to the delegation and reaffirmed the countryโs readiness to continue working closely with fellow African nations in advancing peace, unity and prosperity on the continent.
