Emmanuel Adil Anthony, together with State Minister of Health Hon. Joyce Bakwa Agole and other state officials, toured Yei Civil Hospital to assess service delivery, engage medical staff and patients, and review the facilityโ€™s key challenges.

During the visit, the Governor received briefings on critical gaps in infrastructure, staffing, medical supplies, and essential services. He also listened to concerns from patients and health workers, emphasizing professionalism, accountability, and quality patient care.

Following the assessment, Governor Adil approved Yei Civil Hospital to serve as a Regional Referral State Hospital, a major step toward expanding specialized healthcare services and reducing the need for patients from the Greater Equatoria region to travel elsewhere for advanced medical treatment. He directed the relevant authorities to work with the State Ministry of Health and hospital administration to address the identified challenges and strengthen healthcare delivery.

GOVERNOR ADIL JOINS CHRISTIAN FAITHFUL IN ECUMENICAL PRAYERS IN LAINYA COUNTY

LAINYA โ€“ August 9, 2026 โ€“ On the Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Christian faithful from different denominations gathered in Lainya County for ecumenical prayers dedicated to peace, unity, reconciliation, and social cohesion in Lainya County, Central Equatoria State, and South Sudan. The gathering brought together church leaders, government officials, community members, youth, women, and Christian faithful in a collective moment of prayer and reflection.

Governor H.E. Emmanuel Adil Anthony joined the faithful in prayer, reaffirming the government's commitment to working closely with churches and communities to promote peace. The Governor emphasized the important role of the Church in fostering peace, encouraging dialogue, forgiveness, and mutual understanding among communities.

In support of the Church's peace and community-building efforts, Governor Adil donated SSP 5 million to support church activities. He called for continued collaboration between the government, churches, and communities in strengthening peace and unity across Central Equatoria State and South Sudan.

โ€ŽThe Minister of Health for Central Equatoria State, Hon. Joyce Bakwa Agole, has visited Wonduruba Administrative Payam as part of a high-level delegation led by H.E. Emmanuel Adil Anthony, Governor CES.

โ€ŽDuring the visit, Hon. Joyce Bakwa Agole took the opportunity to inspect and assess the condition of Wonduruba PHCC, where she was briefed by the facility administration on the challenges affecting effective health service delivery.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThe facility administration highlighted several pressing challenges, including inadequate supplies of essential medicines, shortage of beds and mattresses, and limited human resources, among other operational needs.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽIn her remarks, Hon. Joyce appreciated the health facility administration and staff for their continued commitment to serving the community despite the existing challenges. She encouraged the health workers to continue performing their duties with humanity, dedication and commitment to the people.

โ€ŽThe Minister acknowledged that shortages of essential medicines remain a nationwide challenge, adding that the Ministry of Health is actively advocating and working with relevant stakeholders to address the situation and improve the availability of medicines across health facilities.

โ€ŽHon. Joyce further called upon the local community to support the health sector by identifying and sending trained community health volunteers to the Ministry of Health for consideration and deployment. She noted that strengthening the human resource capacity at the facility would help reduce the workload on existing health workers and improve service delivery to the population.

โ€ŽThe Minister reaffirmed the commitment of the CES Ministry of Health to working closely with communities, health partners and local authorities to strengthen primary health care services.
