Aweil East County Health Department Hosts High-Level Meeting on Health Facility Construction and Renovation
Wanyjok, Aweil East County – 17 July 2026
The Aweil East County Health Department, under the leadership of Mr. Wol Kuac Wol, County Health Director, convened a high-level coordination meeting with a delegation from UNICEF and Malaria Consortium to discuss the implementation of Phase One of a health infrastructure improvement project in the county.
The meeting was led by Mr. Dugan Guot, Director General of the Northern Bahr el Ghazal State Ministry of Health, who reaffirmed the State Ministry's commitment to strengthening primary healthcare services through improved health infrastructure.
The three Primary Health Care Units (PHCUs) were selected for Phase One of the project:
1.Amoth Akok PHCU – Renovation of the existing health facility and construction of a new incinerator.
2.Riang Aketh PHCU – Construction of a new health facility and a new incinerator.
3.Mabior Wundiing PHCU – Construction of a new health facility and a new incinerator.
The meeting was attended by Hon. Benson UpuothMalo, Chairperson of the Health Specialized Committee in the Northern Bahr el Ghazal State Legislative Assembly, representatives from UNICEF and Malaria Consortium, and staff of the Aweil East County Health Department.
In his remarks, Mr. Wol Kuac Wol welcomed the partners and appreciated UNICEF, Malaria Consortium, and the State Ministry of Health for their continued support to the health sector in Aweil East County.
He noted that the planned construction and renovation of the selected PHCUs will improve access to quality healthcare services, strengthen infection prevention and control through the provision of the incinerators, and enhance the overall working environment for health workers.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment from all stakeholders to ensure the timely implementation and successful completion of the Phase One infrastructure project for the benefit of our people.
