‎CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

‎On behalf of the County Health Department, we extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the immediate family, relatives, colleagues, and friends of the late James Garang Malong Akhec.

‎The County Health Department has received with profound sorrow the news of the untimely passing of our beloved colleague, a dedicated health worker who served the community with passion, integrity, and unwavering commitment. During his service, the late James Garang Malong Akhec faithfully contributed to the health system in various capacities, including Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Surveillance Officer, and most recently as Health Information Management System (HIMS) Officer.

‎Throughout his career, he demonstrated professionalism, humility, and a strong sense of responsibility.
‎His contributions significantly strengthened disease surveillance, data management, and evidence-based decision-making within the county health system. His loss is not only a great blow to his family but also to the entire health fraternity and the community he served with dedication.

‎As a department, we mourn the loss of a hardworking and committed public servant whose legacy will remain in our hearts and in the work he so faithfully carried out.
‎ We pray that the Almighty God grants strength, comfort, and peace to the bereaved family during this difficult time.

COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT TEAM HOSTED RADIO TALKSHOW TO PROMOTE NOPV2 VACCINATION

Aweil East CHD, November 3Th 2025

The County Health Department team, led by the County Medical Officer, the EPI Officer, and the County Communication Officer, hosted a radio talk show to disseminate information and raise awareness about the ongoing NOPV2 vaccination campaign.

‎The program, aired on Monday, date 3/ at Weerbei radio station , aimed to sensitize the public on the importance of vaccinating all eligible children under five years against poliovirus.
‎ The discussion provided vital information on the safety, effectiveness, and purpose of the novel oral polio vaccine type 2 (NOPV2), which is being rolled out across the country as part of efforts to eradicate polio.

‎During the talk show, the County Medical Officer Gabriel Angony emphasized the critical role of parents, caregivers, and community leaders in ensuring the success of the campaign.
‎We are calling upon every parent to take their children for vaccination.
‎The NOPV2 vaccine is safe and essential in protecting children from lifelong disability caused by poliovirus.

‎The EPI Officer further explained the schedule and target groups of the campaign, encouraging households to cooperate with vaccination teams who will be moving door-to-door to reach every child.
‎The County Communication Officer added that the department is using multiple communication channels, including radio and community mobilization, to ensure accurate information reaches every corner of the county.

Iisteners were also given the opportunity to call in and ask questions about the Compaign.
The health officials addressed community concerns and clarify misconception about the vaccines, reassuring the public of its safety and benefits.

‎The County Health Department reiterated its commitment to achieving full vaccination coverage and called on all stakeholders, including chiefs, religious leaders, and youth groups, to support the campaign and ensure no child is left unvaccinated.

‎Subject: Urgent Call to Follow Preventive Measures Against Cholera Outbreak

‎The County Health Department informs the public and community leaders that cases of cholera have been reported in some parts of our county.
‎Cholera is a serious, but preventable, disease caused by contaminated food and water.

‎We are urging all residents to strictly follow preventive measures to stop the spread of cholera and protect their families and communities.

‎ These measures include:
‎1. Drink only safe water -Boil water or treat it with chlorine before drinking.

‎2. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and clean water before eating and after using the toilet.

‎3. Use latrines or toilets – Do not defecate in open areas or near water sources.

‎4. Eat well-cooked food – Avoid raw or undercooked food, especially fish and vegetables.

‎5. Keep your surroundings clean – Properly dispose of garbage and waste.

‎6. Seek treatment immediately – Anyone with watery diarrhea or vomiting should go to the nearest health facility without delay.

‎Therefore,the County Health Department is working closely with health partners to control the outbreak, provide clean water, and ensure treatment services are available.

‎We call upon community leaders, churches, schools, and all citizens to cooperate with health workers and help disseminate this information to every household.

‎Together, we can stop the spread of cholera.

‎Aweil East commissioner Launched Cleaning Initiative and Priority Wednesday as for General Cleaning

‎The County Health Department Director, Mr Gabriel Angony, joined the Commissioner of Aweil East, Hon Garang Thiang, on Wednesday during the official launch of an important community initiative declaring every Wednesday as a day of general cleaning across Wanyjok town and various markets of Aweil East.

‎The launch, which attracted government officials, community leaders, and residents, emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean environment to prevent the spread of diseases and promote public health.

‎Speaking during the event, Commissioner Garang Thiang called on all residents of Aweil East to actively participate in the weekly cleaning exercise, stressing that a clean environment is the foundation for a healthy community.

‎Health Director Gabriel Angony applauded the initiative, noting that proper waste management and sanitation are essential in reducing preventable diseases like cholera.
‎He urged local leaders and youth groups to take the lead in mobilizing communities for the success of the program as part of preventive measure.

‎The Priority Wednesday initiative is expected to bring together households, market traders, schools, and local institutions in a collective effort to improve hygiene and environmental sanitation throughout Aweil East County.

‎Community members welcomed the move, describing it as timely and necessary, especially during the rainy season when poor sanitation often leads to outbreaks of waterborne diseases and others.
