The state Ministry of health in Western Equatoria announces the outbreaks of Monkey pox with one death from the four cases tested from the National laboratory in Juba.
Speaking to Yambio FM this evening the state Minister of Health Hon. James Abdallah Arona says from the sambles which were sent to Juba four were conformed positive three from Ezo and one from Yambio who died on 2nd- this month.

Arona says vomiting, sore throat, headache, body sweat, backpain, Fever, muscle pain body swelling and body fatigue are symbols and symptoms of monkey pox.

He is advising the communities of Yambio, Nzara, Ezo and Tombura to report any suspect to nearest health facility adding that warmly greetings, s*x, kissing, avoid consumption of bush meat like monkeys and bush Antelopes, body fluids and close contact with infected person are preventive and pre- cautious measures everyone should practice.
However National Ministry of health will in later week sends masks and hand sanitizers to help contain the spread of M-pox in the state.

MSF donates medicines to Yambio Hospital amid malaria surge

October 12, 2025 – Western Equatoria

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has donated essential medicines and mosquito nets to Yambio State Hospital to combat rising malaria cases during the rainy season.

MSF’s emergency project coordinator, Mario Fernando, said the organization has supported South Sudan for over 20 years, emphasizing its neutrality and independence. “We recently delivered anti-malaria drugs through UNICEF and now support Yambio Hospital with more supplies,” he said.

Medical director Dr. Rose Obede welcomed the timely donation but warned it remains insufficient. State officials urged stronger government health systems to reduce reliance on humanitarian aid.
