The first State of Preparedness Meeting for the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season was chaired by Her Excellency the Governor, Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam, bringing together key government officials, national stakeholders and emergency response partners ahead of the start of the hurricane season on 1 June.
The meeting included representatives from across Government, including the DDME, Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, Turks and Caicos Islands Regiment, healthcare and emergency services, alongside utility and critical infrastructure leads. Discussions focused on national readiness, shelter preparedness, continuity of essential services, inter-agency coordination and response planning for the 2026 hurricane season.
Her Excellency emphasised the importance of proactive preparation, coordination and public awareness to ensure the Turks and Caicos Islands remains ready and resilient throughout the season.
