Turks and Caicos, I love you and I believe in you!❤️

These past few weeks have brought a lot of shocking activity atypical to these islands right at our doorsteps. Undoubtedly, it has caused concern, fear, worry, and pain among us all.

None of us take this lightly, and I personally grieve along with all those who have been directly and indirectly affected by these heinous and unsettling actions. My prayers are with you, your families, and your communities.

Today, we celebrate National Heritage Day. It is a day of reflection on our culture as a people and the fabric of who we are as a nation.

Lawlessness is not synonymous with Turks and Caicos, and we will never sit back and allow anyone or any group to infiltrate our beautiful country and make it so. We will fight to maintain the peaceful and community-driven nature of our islands which we are proud to say is still one of the most welcoming destinations one can visit and call home.

With the significant support we have received on the ground and the dedication and fearlessness of our local authorities, we are confident that we will rid these shores of this scourge.

This has sparked an important national conversation, one I hope will continue as we learn from what this teaches us and awakens us to what needs to be done internally.

We are a small but resilient country, full of pride and full of heart. We are a kind, loving people - so much so that those who have visited and come to love it here know many of us by name and consider us friends and extended family.

Let us not allow those who seek to destroy the spirit of these islands to win. Let's stay strong and united for ourselves, and for those who have come to love these islands as their home.

To me, it is and will always be, the best place in the world.

When I'm asked how I decided to jump into the world of real estate, the answer always starts with my Dad.

I'd say it wasn't even a decision....the path was laid by first watching my father, then joining him as he operated his business when I was old enough.

As you'll see in the video, I can't help but smile when I talk about it. I'm thankful for the role model I had and grateful for where I am now.

Saturday was a fabulous day with the Mentees of our TCREA Real Estate Mentorship Program.

We took the teens to their first open house and gave them a taste of what it's like to 'talk up' a property and field off-the-cuff questions from buyers.

Thanks to our Mentors, the group had access to the magnificent Hura Sea Villas, a beachfront property set on beautiful Long Bay Beach. The villas feature a main house and guest house listed at $6,490,000.

After a walkthrough with the Mentors, the "clients" arrived, and Mentees were assigned couples to carry out a tour of the home.

Special thanks to everyone who supported us on Saturday, especially our Minister of Education, Honourable Rachel Taylor, who has endorsed and stayed engaged with the program since inception.

To feel the energy and see the excitement in our Mentees was amazing.

We've done well, Turks and Caicos!

As we continue our clean-up efforts, I would like to personally applaud our NEOC team and relevant stakeholders for the exceptional management of the country as we navigate the passing of Hurricane Fiona.

From a tourism perspective, we are pleased to share that the Providenciales International Airport is open and our resort members are welcoming guests as of today.

As we await additional information on the hurricane's effects on the country as a whole, we encourage all those working on clean-up and restoration efforts to traverse safely, and we are thankful for your commitment and hard work.

Saturday was my first time seeing our Lit'l Chefs Camp Mystery Box Competition in real time. To say it was exciting would be a huge understatement!

Each year, the TCHTA has the privilege of hosting the Jr. Lit'l Chefs, Lit'l Chefs, and Spa Camps through our partnership with TCI Hospitality Adventure. At the end of the Lit'l Chefs Camp which accommodates the older teens, there is a Mystery Box Competition. The top two competitors are then afforded mentorship with the Executive Chefs on our Culinary Team, and can travel with the team to competitions. This camp is the feeder program for TEAM TCI.

Congratulations to Ethan Lightbourne who took the top spot this weekend, and to his competitors Abbygail Campbell and Akeila Barnett. I must say, if you look at the plates all of the competitors put out, you would believe they were executed by professional chefs.

Special thanks to Chefs Craig Nazareth of Beaches Resort and Edwin Gallardo of Seven Stars Resort for guiding the camps and competition along, as well as the members of our Culinary Team who provided mentorship to all of our campers over the past month.

We were especially pleased to have our Deputy Governor and Ministers of Education and Tourism in attendance. I know that every encouraging word they imparted will be treasured by these talented teens.

Our judges - James McAnally of Beaches, Executive Rajasekar Ravindran of The Palms, and Kelly Fontenelle, Luxury Travel Advisor, had one heck of a task! I wouldn't want to have been in their shoes, but we're thankful to them for their time and support.

Looking around the villa, you saw Wayne Gardiner, Charles Joseph, and Kristin Green there as professionals and mentors in the industry and they all came up through this very program. That makes us very proud of what we do through the TCHTA.

I am personally looking foward to seeing one - if not all of them - as one of our future internationally-acclaimed Executive Chefs.
