On Monday 11 May 2026 the Turks and Caicos Islands Regiment welcomed the new UK Defence Attaché, Lieutenant Colonel Dack, based in Jamaica, for his first official visit to the Turks and Caicos Islands.

During the visit, the Defence Attaché was briefed on the Regiment’s strategy to achieve Full Operational Capability by 2030, while Regimental staff received updates on planned UK support across the region, including preparations for this year’s storm season.

The Defence Attaché attended Regimental training, observed capability demonstrations as the Regiment prepares for storm season, and joined in celebrating recent promotions.

The strong relationship between the Turks and Caicos Islands Regiment and UK Defence continues to strengthen access to training, expertise, and regional support, enhancing the Regiment’s mission to protect the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands by building national resilience and supporting civil authorities. A well-trained and well-equipped Regiment contributes directly to a stronger, more resilient Turks and Caicos Islands.

A MESSAGE FROM THE COMMANDING OFFICER

On this Mother’s Day, it is a privilege to recognize the mothers, grandmothers, and maternal figures who serve within our organization , as well as the families who support those of us in uniform.

The strength of the Turks and Caicos Islands Regiment is built not only on operational ability but on the resilience and dedication fostered at home. To the mothers serving among us: your ability to balance the rigorous demands of duty with the profound responsibilities of motherhood is a testament to your character and discipline. You embody the dual roles of protector and provider, setting an extraordinary example of service for both your families and your fellow soldiers.

To our personnel who have lost mothers, we understand how difficult this day is for you and acknowledge that this remains a day of reflection for the sacrifices those women contributed in your lives; we stand in solidarity with you at this time.

To all the mothers of the Turks and Caicos Island Regiment, both in operations today and at home, thank you for your unwavering commitment to our organization and by extension the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

Two members of the Turks and Caicos Islands Regiment, Sergeant Mauqueita Carter and Marine William Francis, have successfully completed an intensive 8-week Coxswain Course in Kingston, Jamaica.

Throughout the program, they developed critical maritime leadership and navigation skills, including vessel handling, seamanship, coastal navigation, safety procedures, and crew management in challenging sea conditions. This specialized training strengthens the Regiment’s operational readiness and enhances its ability to respond effectively across our waters.

We are especially proud to highlight that Sgt. Mauqueita Carter has made history as the first female Coxswain in the Turks and Caicos Islands Regiment, which is a remarkable achievement and an inspiring milestone for women in uniform across the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Please join us in congratulating both soldiers on their dedication, resilience, and commitment to service.

A coordinated joint operation involving the Turks and Caicos Islands Regiment and other partner agencies successfully responded to multiple illegal vessels entering the shores of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

In a decisive show of leadership, one of the vessels was personally commanded by the Commanding Officer, Lt. Colonel Ennis Grant, who played a critical role in both search and rescue efforts as well as the interception of incoming vessels.

Throughout the ongoing operation over the last 72 hours, a total of 71 individuals were safely recovered, including 19 females and 52 males. Among them were two minors; one female and one male, highlighting the importance of continued vigilance and humanitarian response in these situations.

This operation underscores the ongoing commitment of all agencies involved to protect our borders, ensure maritime safety, and uphold the security of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

It’s with great sadness that we say goodbye to not just a colleague, but a true friend, mentor, and leader. As the Commanding Officer of the Turks and Caicos Cadet Corps, Lt. Colonel Nimrol Beckles stood as a pillar of strength, discipline, and unwavering dedication.

His impact reached far beyond his title; he inspired, guided, and uplifted every life he touched. He was a remarkable man and an exceptional role model, someone who led with integrity, compassion, and purpose.

Lt. Colonel Beckles’ commitment to shaping young minds and building character within the corps will never be forgotten. The void left behind is immeasurable, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Though he is no longer with us, his legacy will continue to live on in the countless lives he influenced.

Rest in peace. You will be truly missed.
