On April 18th the SENS department proudly hosted its 2026 Rainbow Walk in Providenciales, bringing together national leaders, educators, families, and community partners in a powerful show of unity, inclusion, and support for children with special needs.

This year's walk, held exclusively in Providenciales, marks the beginning of a new strategic approach, with the Rainbow Walk to be expanded across all islands on a biennial basis. This structure will allow for deeper impact, broader engagement, and more sustainable coordination of resources across the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The event was honored by the distinguished presence of Her Excellency Governor Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam, Her Excellency Deputy Governor Anya Williams, Deputy Premier, Hon. Jamell Robinson, Minister of Education, Hon. Rachel Taylor, and Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey. Their participation underscored the national commitment to advancing inclusion and supporting individuals with special needs. Also in attendance were the CEO of InterHealth Canada Dr. Braithwaite-Tennant, the President of Pelican Energy, Devon Cox, along with school principals, teachers, parents, and a wide cross-section of community organizations. Their collective presence highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration in building a more inclusive society.

The Rainbow Walk continues to serve as a flagship awareness initiative, promoting acceptance, understanding, and advocacy for children with special needs across the islands. Participants walked in solidarity, symbolizing the diverse strengths and abilities that enrich the Turks and Caicos Islands community.

Reflections from Autism Awareness Month🧩💙 Part 1

The Autism Awareness Puzzle Wall Event held on the Twin Islands was a vibrant and heartfelt experience that brought the school community together in a powerful display of unity, creativity, and understanding. The wall itself, filled with colorful puzzle pieces designed by students, stood as a living symbol that every child is unique, valued, and an essential part of the whole. Each handprint, drawing, and message reflected personal expression and acceptance, echoing the theme of walking in each other’s shoes.

The day unfolded with a meaningful program from the opening prayer and awareness walk to inspiring personal journey presentations by parents and family members creating moments of reflection, empathy, and celebration. The live performances and collaborative puzzle activity further strengthened the sense of togetherness, reminding everyone that inclusion is built through shared experiences.

Overall, the event was not just an activity, but a moving journey of awareness, compassion, and collective commitment to embracing differences.
