The Office of the Deputy Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands is pleased to announce the promotion of Ms. Charvis Ferguson to the post of Vice Principal of A. Louise Garland Thomas High School within the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports and Library Services.

In this senior role, Ms. Ferguson will oversee daily operations, supervise staff and students, manage school finances and inventory and ensure high standards of instruction and discipline across the student body.

Ms. Ferguson’s career in education spans over a decade. She joined A. Louise Garland Thomas High School in 2015 as a founding English Language & Literature Teacher when the school first opened its doors. Over the years, she has served in several key leadership roles, including Head of Modern Languages and Humanities (2018), Year Dean (2025) and most recently, Dean of Discipline (2026). In addition to her school leadership, Ms. Ferguson served as Program Manager at the Edward C. Gartland Youth Centre in 2021, where she created developmental programs for the youth. In recognition of her commitment to young people, she was named a 2026 Youth Ally recipient.

Complementing her extensive experience, Ms. Ferguson holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in English Language & Linguistics and History from the University of Kent and a Postgraduate Diploma in English Education from the University of the West Indies (Mona Campus). She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Education with Liverpool John Moores University.

Reflecting on her promotion, Ms. Ferguson stated, “I am truly grateful to God and deeply honoured by the confidence placed in me to serve as Vice Principal of A. Louise Garland Thomas High School. It has always been my passion to make a positive difference in the lives of young people, and I accept this opportunity with humility and a deep sense of responsibility. I look forward to continue working alongside our dedicated staff, students, parents, and the wider community as we continue to build a culture of excellence, respect, and opportunity for every child. I remain committed to leading with integrity, serving with compassion, and always putting the future of the Turks and Caicos Islands first.”

In congratulatory remarks, Deputy Governor and Head of the Public Service, Her Excellency Anya Williams, stated, “I offer my warmest congratulations to Ms. Charvis Ferguson on her promotion to the post of Vice Principal, following the promotion of Mr. Sydwell Glasgow at the A. Louise Garland Thomas High School.

Having grown alongside the school since 2015, Ms. Ferguson has consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership, strong student guidance and a deep commitment to educational excellence. Her academic studies and background in youth development make her uniquely qualified to help lead the school into its next chapter.

I wish her every success as she takes on this vital leadership role.
