We know Thai people love good food – so do we ! 😋 Which is why we were happy to team up with the “Food for Fighters” project to donate 100 healthy lunch boxes to the medical team and COVID-19 patients at the Thammasat University Field Hospital. All ingredients were sourced from the wildlife-friendly Huai Kha Khaeng community that believes in eco-friendly agricultural production and transformation. The food was prepared by the chef from “Matete by Anyangkordai”, the central kitchen of the Food for Fighters project. Bon appétit! #phanpansuk

Last chance to grab your seat for tomorrow’s screening of ´Les Hirondelles de Kaboul’ 🍿

#AFBKKCinema - Behind the scenes: ‘Les Hirondelles de Kaboul’ 🎥

Did you know? This critically acclaimed animated film has been produced in a very particular way.

Usually, when making animated films, the actors record their voices once the animators finish their job. In the case of ‘Les Hirondelles de Kaboul’, it’s the opposite! The actors first recorded their voices, in costumes, filmed by cameras. Then, the animators created and animated the drawings.

This unique animation process makes the movie breathtaking and accentuates the truthfulness of the story.

A must-see! 🎟️
Only a few places left for the screening of ‘Les Hirondelles de Kaboul’, tomorrow at 7PM!

*Free upon registration - Organized by the Embassy of Luxembourg in Thailand*

LuxDev - Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency and TICA Cooperation officially joined forces today to deepen and widen the existing technical cooperation between Thailand and Luxembourg 🤝 Luxembourg firmly believes in the potential of South-South and triangular cooperation to act as an accelerator and multiplier of sustainable development. Such country-led collaborations are an effective tool to share knowledge, skills and successful initiatives between like-minded partners.

Based on the mutual needs and interests identified during a joint mission to Lao PDR in November 2019, LuxDev and TICA signed a Letter of Understanding with a specific focus on human resource development and the ambition to establish a long-term collaborative partnership. As a first concrete step, the agencies agreed to combine their respective and complementary technical expertise in the area of public health. Recognized worldwide for the quality of its own healthcare services and system, Thailand is considered to be a natural partner in this regard.

The collaboration between LuxDev and TICA will also seek to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability of projects and programs in the fields of local and rural development as well as technical and vocational education and training (TVET).

22/07/2020

To support partner countries in the fight against the coronavirus and its consequences, the European Union has mobilised a “Team Europe” package of over €800 million for the ASEAN region.
The funds will support actions at country and regional level to address the immediate health crisis, strengthen health, water and sanitation systems, as well as mitigate the socio-economic impact.

The package includes regional support to the WHO, as well as to enhance collaboration between scientific organisations. In ASEAN Member States, programmes target civil society support, budget support for economic recovery, health care facilities and testing capacities, as well as humanitarian assistance.
The EU is working with ASEAN on a regional level to exchange experiences in regional responses to the crisis. The first virtual EU-ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting held on 20 March 2020 agreed that both regions would work together to deal with the Coronavirus crisis and its consequences.

The European Union has launched a “Team Europe” package of almost €36 billion to support partner countries around the globe. The objective of this “Team Europe” approach is to combine resources from the EU, its Member States, and financial institutions, in particular the European Investment Bank, based in Luxembourg, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
On the ASEAN regional level, “Team Europe” funds will:
• Support the WHO in Southeast Asia (€20 million) to strengthen the health system capacity and to respond to the coronavirus and future diseases.
• Foster collaboration with ASEAN scientific organisations funded through the EU’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020.
In individual ASEAN Member States “Team Europe” funds:
• Protection of livelihoods and resilience of vulnerable communities, in particular by working with civil society
• Budget support for economic recovery
• Health care facilities and testing capacities
• Humanitarian assistance
Examples of activities of EU-ASEAN development cooperation programmes:
• The EU-ASEAN dialogue facility (E-READI) organised a webinar dedicated to High-Performance Computing (HPC) COVID19-related modelling and diagnostic
• The ASEAN Farmer Organisations’ Support Project (AFOSP) organised virtual sharing sessions showcase local initiatives and helps cooperatives store and process produce during lock down, develop online marketing, and deliver directly to customers where possible.
• The WeEmpowerAsia progamme provides opportunities for women to lead and participate in private sector businesses in this time of pandemic by providing trainings on financial and digital literacy.

Press release for Luxembourg nationals currently abroad
17/03/2020

A Hotline for Covid-19 related enquiries is now available at our Embassy in Bangkok : +66 (0) 92 287 2418

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs asks Luxembourg nationals and residents who are currently staying abroad or studying abroad to urgently check their possibilities to make their way back to Luxembourg.

Indeed, the availability of options to come back diminishes as more and more countries impose restrictions on movement. In these circumstances, there is a risk that a return to Luxembourg may soon not be possible anymore.

As of today, the Ministry recommends Luxembourg nationals and residents who are currently abroad, especially outside of the Schengen space, and depending on their particular situation, to check with their travel agency and/or airline for return flights to Luxembourg. If needed, contact the Luxembourg embassy accredited to the country in question https://maee.gouvernement.lu/fr/missions-diplomatiques/missions-diplomatiques-et-consulaires-luxembourgeoises.html , or the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs https://maee.gouvernement.lu/fr/directions-du-ministere/affaires-consulaires.html .

For Luxembourg nationals and residents who wish to return to Luxembourg, the borders will be open.
