MWA is a Thai state enterprise under the Ministry of Interior. Her presentation featured SMC research on the future world of work and suggested pathways to new careers for students and people in the business world. On May 14th 2019, Department of Tourism (DOT), Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand, and Sasin Management Consulting (SMC) team; led by Ms. Pruittiporn Nakornchai, Project Director, held a workshop on how to build the tourism environment to accommodate Muslim travelers due to their unique culture and religious practices. The guest speaker was Mr. Sukre Sarem, an expert at Muslim arts, history, tourism, and culture. On May 8th 2019, Department of Tourism (DOT), Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand, and Sasin Management Consulting (SMC) conducted a focus group discussion with Muslim entrepreneurs, imams, and involved tourism authorities on halal route planning. On the event, Mr. Taweesak Vanichareon, Director General for Department of Tourism, delivered an opening speech and Ms. Pruittiporn Nakornchai led the discussion.

This project is an implementation phase of a strategy for Thailand to be the Muslim Friendly destination. The strategy was formulated by SMC for the Ministry, and subsequently had been approved by the National Tourism Policy Committee, chaired by His Excellency Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, on August 2, 2018.

Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) and Sasin School of Management recently launched the SCB Future Leader Challenge (SCBFLC) 2019, a business case competition that lets master’s degree students from around the world showcase their skills and ideas through real business cases. The competition, which has been held for six consecutive years, is a people development exercise to prepare talent for the business world. Ms. Phanporn Kongyingyong, Senior Executive Vice President, Chief People Officer, Siam Commercial Bank, together with Mr. Yod Chinsupakul, CEO and Co-Founder, Wongnai Media Co., Ltd congratulated and presented the awards to the first winner of “Q by SCB Future Leader Challenge Batch 1” (Q by SCBFLC Batch 1). On August 23, 2018, Mr. Thana Siriwallop, Project Director of Sasin Management Consulting (SMC) conducted a Change Management workshop for PTT PLC at Rama Gardens Hotel Bangkok. PTT is one of the largest corporations in Thailand visioning to step up from a national energy corporation to a Thai premier multinational energy company.

The workshop emphasized on the importance and impact of change to the organization. The participants were encouraged to analyze the potential factors affecting the change plan. On August 1, 2018, Mr. Thana Siriwallop, Project Director of Sasin Management Consulting (SMC) conducted a Change Management workshop for top executives from Sansiri Management Development Program (MDP) at Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok. Sasin Management Consulting (SMC), led by Ms. Pruittiporn Nakornchai and her team, presented the Muslim tourism strategy at a Meeting of the National Tourism Policy Committee No. 2/2561, chaired by Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister, at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports on August 2, 2018. Mr. Weerasak Kowsurat, the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Pongpanu Svetarunda, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and related parties, both government agencies and private organizations, attended the meeting.



The theme of the strategy that SMC developed is “inclusivity”, or to build a tourism environment that is safe and Muslim-friendly, i.e. providing Halal food and services, family-friendly facilities, places of religious practices, good sanitary systems, and good communication and cross-promotional activities. All of these would be an effort to propel Thailand forward to become the top destination for Muslim travelers. According to the globally recognized Global Muslim Travel Index rating, Thailand is currently second to Singapore.



The Committee has approved the strategy and assigned specified related parties to carry the strategy forward.

On May 18, 2018, Assistant Professor Dr. Chaipong Pongpanich, Director of Sasin Management Consulting (SMC), together with Mr. Thana Siriwallop, Project Director of SMC, have participated in the "HAPPI DBD Clusters" event at the Government Complex on Chaengwattana Road. The event aims to promote the six selected strategic clusters and their collaborations, which would help accelerating the growth of the Thai economy according to the government's Thailand 4.0 policy.

The event included showcases and sharing of cluster strategies formulated earlier during the previous phases of "Clusters Models and Strategies Development" project that SMC has conducted for the Department of Business Development (DBD) of the Ministry of Commerce since 2017.

The six strategic clusters include Textile (northeastern), Organic Food (northern), Agro-tourism (central), Community-based Tourism (eastern), Rubber Processing (south), and Halal Food Processing (southern border).
