The activity was graced by City Director Atty. Lucky Siegfred M. Balleque, who shared an inspiring message and welcomed the mentees as they begin their journey toward business growth and development.

Also present was Business Development Division Chief Lani T. Catalan, who encouraged the mentees to remain committed, actively participate in the sessions, and persevere until they successfully complete the KMME program.

The Department of Trade and Industry - Davao City Field Office and Davao and Davao City Water District (DCWD) leverage combined resources to capacitate livelihood communities in Talomo-Lipadas, Malagos and Panigan-Tamugan watershed areas in Davao City through the MSME Negosyo Hub: Capacity Building and Multi-Agency Consultation held at DCWD Matina Branch last July 27 and 28.

DCWD fosters fundamental support in their beneficiaries' Business Development through strategic partnership and multi-stakeholder framework as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility Program. They support partner communities under the Integrated Watershed Management Program by building their capacities and enhancing their quality of life.

This initiative has capacitated 30 individuals including farmers, producers of processed crops and high value fruits, makers of handmade crafts and food processors on the first day. DTI Davao provided technical Trainings on Entrepreneurship, Basic Marketing, Financial Literacy and Simple Bookkeeping.

On its second day, invited key agencies lay their respective programs and services before the beneficiaries. Among those who responded to the call were FDA, DOST, DOLE and Small Business Corp. They were able to share insights on business optimization particularly on standards and certifications. They also introduced some opportunities for business enhancement through financing and facility augmentation.

Through this collaboration, participating livelihood groups have gained better business acumen to scale up gradually. They expressed positive outlook on investing for product development, standardized operations and continuous improvement.

The DTI - Davao City Field Office joins the Felcris for their Bulto Diskwento Caravan, held on July 31 to August 2, 2026, at Felcris Toril, Davao City.

This initiative aligns with DTI’s Presyo Diskwento Caravan program, which partners with manufacturers and distributors of Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities (BNPCs) to provide consumers with accessible, quality products at discounted prices. The activity aims to ease the burden of rising costs by making affordable consumer goods available to resellers, wholesalers, and general consumers alike.

In support of local micro, small, and medium enterprises, four DTI-assisted MSME exhibitors are also participating in the event:
1. Kuya's Kitchen Davao – Buko, apple, durian, ube, and egg pies
2. Brew it Cafè – Specialty coffee drinks
3. Tsoko De Maria – Tablea and tablea spread
4. Daveco Arb Cooperative – Pineapple juice, concentrate, jam, vinegar, and wine

Through strong public-private partnerships, DTI remains committed to protecting consumer welfare while promoting the growth of local businesses.
