“Sussan Ley will secure a pension for life of around $220,000 a year when she quits Parliament because she qualifies under the old super scheme.

That means she will earn potentially almost as much as a serving MP does for life, unless she takes a lump sum.

That’s a big silver lining as she prepares to depart politics after 25 years.

As opposition leader, she earned around $442,643 a year.”

Politicians who entered parliament before 2004, like bureaucrats, still receive a gold plated pension despite being well paid as a politician.

There’s only one politician left In parliament on that pension scheme and that’s the Prime Minister.

If Angus Taylor wants to make his mark early, he should commit to abolishing this rort once and for all. It’s a great way to wedge the PM.

If Albanese was truly a man of the people he would agree that it’s a rort the Australian taxpayer can no longer afford.
