My dear Aunty Irene Moungaloa & famili 🥹💜
There are some people who just warm your spirit and fill your cup! During the Heilala last year, my Aunty Irene gifted me with my beautiful teunga tau’olunga, a moment I will always remember! She holds memories, relationships, and love that goes back generations.
She was with my Nana in Canada when my mom was born. She was here in Tonga when my Nana & Papa moved here in the ‘80s running The Good Samaritan Hotel in Kolovai and Joe’s Hotel in Fasi. She was there for my mom when she was Miss Good Samaritan in ‘97. And she was there for me when I was Miss Pangaimotu Island last year.
She is one who blessed me, loved me, cared and prayed for me, even though she couldn’t be here in person. I praise God for the family, their love for one another, their love for Tonga, and most importantly their love for God. It takes a village. Thank you Jesus for crossing our paths despite the craziness of this life!
Hope you find people and places to remember and create space to continue those. Blessed to be here in Tonga, to have stories come to life in the land, and to make my very own. It’s officially been 1 year here in Tonga since my move. It’s moments like this Tonga is a common ground and communal space for us.
