Building Bridges for Refugee Children "Mülteci çocuklar için köprüler inşa edelim"
This number is expected to rise, especially among Syrian families.

EN - Since the Syrian crisis started in 2011, Turkey has hosted over two million Syrian refugees, as well as additional asylum seekers from Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia and Iran. Half of the refugees coming from Syria are children, however, according to the Human Rights Watch, more than 400,000 Syrian refugee children living in Turkey are not attending school. The Turkish government

adopted a policy in September of 2014 that formally grants Syrian children access to Turkish public schools, but key obstacles, including the language barrier, social integration issues, economic hardship, and lack of information about the policy continue to be a problem. Because of this, our main goal is the inclusion into society of these children and their families, by voluntarily teaching them Turkish as well as English. Additionally we will concentrate on providing the needed support regarding clothes, medicines and other donations for the refugee families who are living in the Keçiören district of Ankara.

Below message is from (Atma)ca Denim...

Hi Everyone,
We have been asked several times where to donate or give used unwanted clothes in Ankara. Indeed many groups are doing great work distributing them to refugees but I always come across damaged fabric or unsuitable one like party dresses (which won't be really used) Therefore, we would like to introduce you to (Atma)ca Denim which is a social enterprise that aims to reduce resource waste, environmental pollution and over-consumption while supporting the circular economy by upcycling the materials and products from denim which is one of the most resource consuming materials during its production.
This group is collecting used clothes even the damaged ones to recycle them.
If you are interested to donate, or for more information feel free to contact us.

A big thank you to all of you who came in such a great number and supported and encouraged us even more. The 3rd edition of Eat for a Change was a massive success which further inspires us to continue to change Ankara, day by day.

We would also like to show appreciation to Sarkaç Cafe which allowed us to host this event and to Ankara Intercultural Center for sponsoring this event.

On this rainy weather, we would like to warmly invite you to the second day of "Eat for a Change".
Today, while enjoying the good music and the tasty food we care to remind you of the cause that gathered us all - charity and humanity.
Please do not forget to leave any small donations as all the money collected go to the refugee families in Ankara...
By doing so, you remind these families that there are still people out there who appreciate their efforts and acknowledge their input in the society.
Thank you again for your tremendous support and hope to see all of you today...

EN/TR

Dear friends, we as the BBRC would like to wish you a Happy New Year and happy holidays filled with joy, good health, and peace. Thank you for another year and another opportunity where we got to learn so much about each other, about our differences and our similarities. In the end what matters is that regardless of any circumstances, we will continue to build the bridges and bring each other closer, since all of us are human, with the same hopes and dreams in life.

As a final event this year, we decided to go to Armada Cinema and to watch the movie Ferdinand and have a lunch after. Check out some of our photos and make sure to join us and support us this year again.

Thank you,

BBRC Team
