📍Today, Wednesday 7th May, 2025, Dr. the Honourable Michael Dowlath, Minister of Education, visited the Rudranath Capildeo Learning Resource Centre (RCLRC).

Accompanied by Ms. Jacqueline Charles, Permanent Secretary; Dr. Peter Smith, Chief Education Officer; and Deputy Permanent Secretaries Ms. Ayanna Gaspard-Clark and Mr. Wilson Henderson, the Minister connected with staff and toured key areas of the Centre, including the Computer Lab, Printery, Auditorium, Library, and other essential facilities.

For nine years, our beloved San Fernando West has suffered from neglect, crime, and economic hardship. From failing infrastructure to the devastating effects of Petrotrin’s closure, our communities have been left behind.

On Tuesday, March 18th, 2025, we continued our outreach, meeting the hardworking people of Palmiste/Hermitage, Bay Road, Bamboo Village, Southern Main Road, and Rahaman Drive.

Residents shared serious concerns, including:
💰 High cost of living making it harder to get by
🚧 Poor road conditions left in neglect
🏠 Home invasions creating fear in communities
🌊 Lack of drain maintenance causing flooding & mosquitoes
🚨 Rising violent crime in La Romain threatening safety

We made it clear—the UNC is ready to deliver real solutions! We have done it before, and with your support, we will do it again!

We listened to their concerns—real issues affecting their daily lives—and shared the UNC’s vision for a safer, stronger, and more vibrant community.

Last evening, our team visited the residents of Jack Street, Dolly Street, and Ramoutar Street, listening to their concerns firsthand. The people are frustrated, but they remain hopeful—hopeful that real change is coming with the UNC!

🏡 Key issues raised by residents:
✔️ Speed bumps needed to protect children and pedestrians 🚸
✔️ Overgrown lots leading to mosquito infestations 🦟
✔️ Unsafe, unpaved pathways with poor lighting and missing safety railings—fueling crime concerns 🚨
✔️ Large tree threatening homes—posing a serious danger 🌳
✔️ Lack of playpark facilities for children to enjoy sports ⚽🏀
