With four (4) sessions in for the year so far, our Labour Inspectors are making every effort to ensure that migrant workers are made aware of their labour rights and if any breaches occur, they can seek redress at the Labour Inspectorate Unit of our Ministry, as they have equal rights just like national workers, to this free service.

Our latest collaboration with the Team at UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency T&T strengthens both our efforts to ensure the protection of these migrant workers' rights.

The National Productivity Council of Trinidad and Tobago, which falls under the purview of the Ministry of Labour, took a pioneering step toward enhancing national productivity with the launch of the first comprehensive National Productivity Survey on Monday 3rd February, 2025, at the Cipriani College of Labour and Co-operative Studies. This initiative is a significant advancement in understanding and improving the country’s productivity performance.

The National Productivity Survey will gather detailed insights into productivity levels across various sectors of the economy, in both the private and public sectors. This will assist in identifying hindrances and constraints to productivity, examining the factors influencing productivity, identifying challenges and opportunities, and provide a benchmark for future work.
