#FridayFacts - World Day of Social Justice

Every year on February 20 (tomorrow, Saturday 20 February 2020), we celebrate World Day of Social Justice, as declared by the UN General Assembly. To show its commitment to this day, the ILO adopted the ILO Declaration on Social Justice for a Fair Globalization on 10 June 2008.

The Declaration focuses on guaranteeing fair outcomes for all, through employment, social protection, social dialogue, and fundamental principles and rights at work.

Music Against Child Labour - Take part in the competition

Music Against Child Labour Competition 2021

The initiative calls upon musicians, bands, ensembles, orchestras and choirs to dedicate concerts and songs to the fight against child labour. By doing so we are raising awareness around one of the most important issues of our time and reaching audiences otherwise not reached.

The competition is open to both professional and amateur musicians from all over the world. Submissions from musicians aged 15 and above and of all formations (up to a maximum group number of 6) are welcome. Contributions from different genres are equally valued - soul or song-writing, highlife or hip-hop, folk, jazz, rock or tango, classical music of every tradition and every type of music besides! Only original songs will be accepted, including songs already composed in 2019-20, as well as new compositions from the date of the competition’s announcement.

#OpportunityatWork - January Feature

One of the best types of feedback that the OJT Division could receive is that an OJTP - Trainee has secured sustainable employment with their Training Provider.

Such is the case with Daniel Hosein who transitioned from a Clerical Assistant Trainee of the On the Job Training Programme to a Sterile Services Assistant at South-West Regional Health Authority. He described the highlight of his training experience as being included in staff meetings with managers and supervisors and being able to contribute towards the creation of important reports for the organization.

His interaction with co-workers allowed him to enhance his knowledge, skills and cognitive capacity. He is very appreciative to have gained professional experience, technical skills and develop a good work ethic, which equipped him with the ability to operate at a high level of productivity.

Mr. Daniel Hosein, we congratulate you on your life’s journey! We hope that you continue to learn, grow and advance both in your personal and career path. All the best from all of us at the OJT Division!

Hai labour most company used employees to work more 8hrs which agianst the with no overtime, what is happening
CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF 14 DAYS VACATION IS CORRECT OR INCORRECT???
Good morning.....I raise concern to the ministry of labour concerning mistreatment in Countryside diary limited in Nyahururu-Boiman road. The company have been mistreating it's employees by working excessively that is more than 12hours a day and no overtime. This against the labour laws and kindly I urge you as the ministry to respond. This too much that they have been taking advantage of their poor employees due to lack of jobs.thank you
Alcohol is the main catalyst spreading covid19 in T&T and predisposes to a poor outcome! Alcohol is also the main catalyst for all other hospital admissions! Alcohol is NOT an essential item! Alcohol is costing billions of losses in the economy, is destoying the social backbone of the country. Stopping the sale of alcohol Will dramatically control the spread and allow the country to return to normal. Why are we frontline workers being put on death row just to allow alcohol sales? The manufactures can very easily earn just as much or more money making alcohol for sanitization rather than consumption so they wont be losing. Stop alcohol sales

I will like to make a complain about @Lizadesign they hire me to do some tiling going on 2 weeks ago an never paid me an my worker up to know they block me on social media an whatsapp when I calling on all there numbers they are not answering my call please look in to this spam company they hire ppl to work an then they don't pay ppl the money
This is an open application for information to the echelons of the Ministry of Labour who may be in the best position to advise all workers during this pandemic how leave will be allotted and in some cases how is pandemic leave given and to whom. The Honourable Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh, intimated on various occasions that persons are to stay home if sick. The CMO has uttered similar sentiments. As such, some employers have also made known to their employees that this should be the case. Conversely, therein lies a problem whereby there have been and continue to be fallout and gross anomalies which need the intervention of the Ministry of Labour to make a statement to guide the workers, whether temporary or permanent as it relates to how the leave allocation should be treated. Secondly, there is a level of uncertainty and anxiety whereby with the absence of proper guidance, and or policies, persons are reporting to work, some may mask their symptoms, albeit to save their jobs. They are afraid of losing pay or in some scenarious experience furlough. We need in some way to educate, motivate and allay the fears of all persons, but the breadwinner in a home is crucial and must also be protected. Looking forward for some guidance as the persons we represent are vast. Joanne Ogeer - Vice President Communication Workers' Union Where we always dare to struggle✊
