Mr. Rishi Maharaj, Assistant Executive Director – Economics and Research, recently participated in the Seminar on Energy Efficiency Improvement and Power Facility Management in Baoding, China. The seminar, organized by the North China Electric Power University (NCEPU) and sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, focused on strengthening cooperation between China and Trinidad and Tobago in the power sector.

The seminar brought together 18 participants from various Trinidad and Tobago organizations, including T&TEC, WASA, the Government Electrical Inspectorate, and the Ministry of Public Utilities. Through a combination of classroom teaching and hands-on site visits, attendees explored innovative solutions for the power industry, focusing on areas such as energy efficiency, power system restoration, and integration of renewable energy sources like wind and solar.

Key highlights included:

🌍 Classroom sessions on photovoltaic power generation, power
forecasting, and balancing new power systems.
πŸ—οΈ Site visits to leading companies and research labs such as
Beijing Sifang Jibao Automation Co., State Grid Jibei Electric
Power Company, and NCEPU’s New Energy Laboratory.

This experience was a valuable opportunity for participants to enhance their knowledge and collaborate on the advancement of the energy sector, contributing to human resource development and fostering international cooperation between China and Trinidad and Tobago.
