At age 14, Trinidadian born Ernest Nurse migrated to the USA, and fell victim to a life of crime and gang violence. At age 19 he was arrested and sentenced to 25 years to Life Imprisonment for murder. Whiles serving his Prison sentence at a Maximum Security Prison in the USA, he meet Claudette Spencer, a brilliant outspoken American Attorney at Law and Civil Rights Activist who was investigating an incident of Ku Klux Klan activity at Elmira Correctional Facility in New York. Ernest was interviewed by Claudette who went on to become his beacon of hope, inspiration, mentor and eventually - his Wife.
Throughout the years in-spite of his very dark circumstances, he found the Courage to Transform into a Beacon of Positive light, enrolling in every positive program offered in the Prison. From earning a Degree, to becoming a Teacher, Musician, Chef, and Positive Mentor to others serving lifetime in Prison.
After a long hard fight, he was eventually released, and returned to Trinidad where he went on to accomplish extraordinary and distinguish work in Trinidad & Tobago. From working with destitute and homeless kids on the streets of Trinidad & Tobago to mediating and encouraging peace and non violent behaviour in the Deadliest of Communities in Trinidad & Tobago.
He went on to save Countless Lives from a life of Crime and Deviant behaviour to say the least. His amazing wife Claudette wrote a Best Selling book. An autobiography titled, “Memoirs of A Prison Lawyer - Prison Wife”.
This book is an absolute Movie by any means, and a must have, and must read! We present to you this Documentary. An extract from the book based on the True Life Story of these two extra-ordinary people. Thank you very much Claudette Spencer-Nurse for writing this book which has become a fountain of light, and education for People, in and out of Prison.
