CHEQUE DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY FOR UNSPONSORED STEELBANDS
On January 16th, 2025, at the Queen's Park Savannah, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts proudly collaborated with Pan Trinbago for the cheque distribution to Unsponsored Steelbands. The funds totaled $2.42 million, which were allocated to support 149 Unsponsored Steelbands. This included increased grants for Single Pan Bands (now $10,000 per band) and Conventional Bands (now $20,000 per band).
As the heartbeat of our culture, carrying the rhythm of our heritage and uniting us as a nation, this marks a vital step in preserving and celebrating our National Musical Instrument. 🛢
The Ministry proudly commends Pan Trinbago and the Steelpan fraternity. Deputy Permanent Secretary (Ag.), Mr. Martel Waldron addressed the Steelband members on behalf of the Ministry encouraging them saying, that through increased financial support, the hope is to inspire greater participation for Panorama 2025 and beyond, thereby empowering all to continue this unique artform with pride, passion and unwavering dedication! 🇹🇹✨
