𝗧𝗢𝗕𝗔𝗚𝗢 𝗖𝗬𝗖𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗦 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗜𝗠 𝗧𝗢𝗣 𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗧𝗦 𝗔𝗧 𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗨𝗠 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣𝗦 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 🚴🏽‍♂️🏆

Tobago-based New Sights and Destinations Cycle Squad made its mark at the National Criterium Championships 2026, held on Sunday (September 13, 2026) at E-Reck Park, Tamana, Trinidad.

Jedon Williams secured victory in the Junior (Under-19) category, while Jevon Adams claimed the top spot in the Masters (40–49) category.

Six cyclists from the squad made the trip to Trinidad to compete across several categories. Kobe Des Vignes competed among the Youth Developers, Jedon Williams in the Juniors and Jabari Francis in the Elite category. Marcus Pilgrim, Jevon Adams and Omar Glace represented the squad in the Masters category.

The championships featured cyclists competing in categories ranging from Tiny Mites and Youth Developers to Juveniles, Juniors, Elite and Masters.

Congratulations to the New Sights and Destinations Cycle Squad on their representation, with special congratulations to Jedon Williams and Jevon Adams on their respective victories! 👏🏽🚴🏽‍♂️

♟️ 𝗧𝗢𝗕𝗔𝗚𝗢 𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗡 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗟𝗗 𝗖𝗨𝗣 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 | 𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗 𝟱

✨ Round 5 of the Tobago Open World Cup 2026 for Draughts and Checkers took place yesterday (September 14, 2026) at the Green Palm Boutique Hotel, Tobago.

The atmosphere was intense as players from around the world faced off across the boards, with some matches lasting as long as four hours. With that much time spent calculating each move and anticipating the next, the level of concentration in the room was extremely evident as players battled through strategy to gain the advantage over their opponents.

The tournament continues this week, with nine rounds being contested overall. It will conclude on September 17, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., when the new champion will be crowned, bringing the Tobago Open World Cup 2026 to a close.

𝗕𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗧 𝗕𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗟! 🧁| 𝗩𝗔𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗦𝗞𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗦 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗠𝗘

✨ Participants in the Vacation Skills Programme at the Bethel Youth Centre got the chance to try their hand at baking during a session held on August 19, 2026.

The session focused on baking, took them through the process of making a sheet cake as well as a rainbow swirl bread. They were able to follow each process and learn how sheet cakes can be prepared for various events and social gatherings.

The Vacation Skills Programme, an initiative of the Department of Youth Empowerment, ran from August 13-21, 2026, providing young persons between the ages of 10-17 with the opportunity to learn a range of practical and creative skills.

The programme was held at four locations across Tobago, including the Pembroke Youth Centre, Bethel Youth Centre, Signal Hill Youth Centre and Castara Youth Centre, with different activities offered at each location.

The Active Seniors Recreation Programme may have come to a close, but the highlights are not over as yet.💛 It's time for the lovely ladies at Belle Garden to have their moment to shine!

On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, participants at the Belle Garden Multipurpose Facility enjoyed a light full-body exercise session led by coach Rickie Bernard, geared towards keeping them active while improving their mobility and physical strength.

There was no shortage of energy from the ladies as they moved through the session and enjoyed each other's company. Throughout the two-month programme, the Belle Garden participants embraced the opportunity to remain active while sharing an enjoyable experience together.

⚽ 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗨𝗣𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗗𝗘 | 𝗖𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗔 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗚𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗

The Castara Recreation Ground received a series of upgrades in July 2026, with works completed in time for the start of the Castara Yardstyle Football Competition on August 8, 2026.

The works included aeration of the playing field, cutting of the grounds using drive mowers and the filling of holes with sand to improve the condition of the field. The goal posts were also modified and repaired in preparation for competition.

Electrical works were also carried out at the facility, including the refurbishment of the outdoor field lights, while the playing field was marked and prepared for competitive action.

🏓 𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗦 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 | 𝗧𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗘 𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗡𝗜𝗦 𝗜𝗡 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡!

✨Sports Camp 2026 participants at the Mt. Pleasant Recreation Ground were busy with Table Tennis action on August 7, 2026!

The young participants spent the sessions learning more about table tennis and practising the basics while getting lots of opportunities to play against each other as they became more comfortable with the sport.

Table tennis was among the 13 sporting disciplines offered during Sports Camp 2026, which ran from August 3-14, 2026, for children between the ages of 7-15 at locations across Tobago.

🏆 𝗧𝗢𝗕𝗔𝗚𝗢 𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗡 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗟𝗗 𝗖𝗨𝗣 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 | 𝗗𝗥𝗔𝗨𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗖𝗞𝗘𝗥𝗦

Secretary of Youth Empowerment and Sport, Assembly Member Keigon Denoon, delivered the feature address at the opening ceremony of the Tobago Open World Cup 2026 for Draughts and Checkers today (September 10, 2026) at the Green Palm Boutique Hotel, Tobago.

Secretary Denoon, who expressed a passion for the sport, highlighted the value of draughts as more than simply a competitive game. He noted that the "sport of the mind" trains players in something much more special, encouraging them to sharpen their skills while enhancing their cognitive abilities. He also reflected on the level of thought and strategy required in the sport and the opportunities created through competitions of this nature.

The opening ceremony brought together local and international representatives of the sport, including Tournament Director of the Fédération Mondiale du Jeu de Dames (FMJD), Ms. Lublyana Turiy; Former President of the FMJD and International Arbiter, Mr. Jacek Pawlicki; President of the Trinidad and Tobago Draughts & Checkers Association, Mr. Nicholas Ramsundar; President of the Tobago Draughts Association, Mr. Raymond Baynes; Current World Champion, GMI Jan Groenendijk; Current Vice World Champion, GMI Jitse Slump; Current Women’s World Champion, GMIF Viktoriia Motrichko; and Public Relations Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Draughts & Checkers Association and Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Frederick Cumberbatch.

The competition officially gets underway today at 3:00 p.m., with matches continuing throughout the weekend. A total of nine rounds will be played as competitors put their skills to the test in pursuit of the Tobago Open World Cup 2026 title.

The tournament will conclude on September 17, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., when the new champion will be crowned.

Participants of the Vacation Skills Programme at the Castara Youth Centre got an introduction to the art of drumming during an informative session held on August 19, 2026.

Led by tutor Domonic Williams, the session provided participants between the ages of 10-17 with the opportunity to learn the basics of drumming and gain a better understanding of the instrument. With guidance throughout the session, participants were able to put what they learned into practice, getting hands-on experience with the drums while developing a greater appreciation for the skill involved in playing.

⚡ 𝗬.𝗘.𝗦. 𝗔𝗧 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞 | 𝗦𝗨𝗠𝗠𝗘𝗥 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗠𝗘 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

✨ On August 18, 2026, the Y.E.S. Unit visited interns at several of their respective workplaces to get a closer look at their experience during the 2026 Summer Internship Programme.

Some of the visits included Studley Park Enterprise Limited, Epixl Studios, Dill Smith Limited and the Division of Finance, Trade and the Economy, where interns shared a bit about their roles and what they gained during their time on the job.

Designed for Upper Sixth Form and tertiary-level students between the ages of 18-35, the Y.E.S. Summer Internship Programme provides meaningful work experience while preparing young persons for future career success. Interns spent two months in their respective placements throughout the July/August vacation period, gaining firsthand exposure to the working environment and a better understanding of their respective fields.
