💻📚 MTECI’s ICT Department Supports the Preservation of Tuvalu’s Historical Records 🇹🇻

Today, Acting Director of Tuvalu’s ICT Department, Fini Iuni, met with the Head of Tuvalu’s National Library and Archives, Mamao Tafao, to discuss ongoing efforts to strengthen the preservation and security of digitized historical government documents.

The National Library and Archives has undertaken important work to digitize records from the history of the Government of Tuvalu, helping to safeguard valuable information and make it more accessible for future generations.

As part of these efforts, MTECI’s ICT Department is working alongside the Digital Repository under the Department of Culture to support the secure backup and storage of digitized government materials on government servers.

🤝 This collaboration highlights the Government’s commitment to preserving Tuvalu’s documentary heritage while strengthening digital infrastructure and information management across the public sector.

The Ministry extends its sincere appreciation to the ICT Department, the National Library and Archives, and all partners involved in this important initiative to ensure that significant government records remain protected and accessible for generations to come.

🌏🤝 Minister Simon Kofe Gives Keynote Address at the 2026 Pacific Peace & Security Dialogue 🇹🇻

This week, Tuvalu’s Minister for Transport, Energy, Communication and Innovation, Hon. Simon Kofe, is in Suva, Fiji attending the 2026 Pacific Peace & Security Dialogue. 🇫🇯✨

Hosted by the Pacific Security College at the Australian National University (ANU), the Dialogue brings together political leaders, regional and national officials, academics, business leaders, and civil society representatives to share perspectives on building a secure and resilient Pacific. 🌊🌴

The Dialogue promotes a collaborative, Pacific-led approach to addressing the challenges and opportunities facing the Blue Pacific region. 🌏💙

🎤 During the Dialogue, Minister Kofe delivered a keynote address and participated in panel discussions on:
🔹 Economic Security
🔹 Regional Cooperation for Mobility, Dignity, and Adaptation

These installations are part of ongoing efforts to expand access to reliable, sustainable, and renewable energy across Tuvalu, helping to support communities and improve energy security throughout the islands. 🌏☀️💡

🌏✈️ Minister Kofe and Delegation Attend Pacific Blue Shipping Partnership (PBSP) Ministerial Meeting in Majuro 🇹🇻🚢

This week, from 9 to 11 June 2026, Tuvalu’s Minister for Transport, Energy, Communication and Innovation, Hon. Simon Kofe, is in 📍Majuro, 🇲🇭 Republic of the Marshall Islands, attending the Pacific Blue Shipping Partnership (PBSP) Ministerial Meeting.

🤝 The Pacific Blue Shipping Partnership, which was formally established during the meeting in Majuro, works alongside Pacific Transport Ministers to advance the decarbonization of domestic shipping across the region and catalyze large-scale climate finance investment to transition to low carbon shipping. ⚡🌊

🚢 Key topics under discussion included:
🔹 Agreeing on the PBSP Charter and establishing the PBSP Council and Office
🔹 Developing National Action Plans for shipping transition
🔹 Accessing funding to implement transition plans
🔹 Applying for funding from the Green Climate Fund to finance a demonstration fleet of low carbon vessels

🇹🇻 Tuvalu’s Department of Immigration Attends Pacific Immigration Development Community Annual Meeting in Fiji 🇫🇯

✈️ This week (8–12 June 2026), Tuvalu’s Director of Immigration, Petsyio Koau Samuelu and Senior Immigration Officer, Samoafou Siona, are attending the Regular Annual Meeting of the Pacific Immigration Development Community (PIDC) in Suva, Fiji.

🤝 The meeting brings together Heads of Immigration and senior immigration officials from across the Pacific to discuss key developments, share experiences, and explore opportunities to strengthen immigration services and cooperation throughout the region.

🌏 The Ministry recognizes the importance of regional collaboration in addressing shared immigration challenges and advancing efficient, secure, and people-centered immigration services across Pacific Island countries.

Preparations for Sei Tuvalu 2026 are continuing this week as the Department of Tourism under MTECI hosts Media Week for contestants. 🇹🇻🌺

Led by Tourism Director Tepola Esekia, Sei Tuvalu Tapua Pasuna, and the Department of Tourism team, Media Week provides contestants with valuable training designed to build confidence, communication skills, and professional experience. 🎓💫

📚 Training sessions include:
✨ Personal Branding and Pageant Positioning
📱 Social Media Strategy and Online Presence
🎤 On-Camera Confidence and Interview Skills
📸 Photoshoot Techniques and Visual Branding

In addition to training, contestants are taking part in official, cultural, and beach-themed photoshoots, as well as dance practice sessions. 🌴📷💃
