People-to-people connections are an important part of the enduring friendship between the United States and Taiwan. Thanks to the Taipei City Government for the kind invitation and warm hospitality. The spectacular fireworks lighting up the Dadaocheng waterfront and the festive atmosphere showcased Taipei’s energy and charm, making the summer celebration a wonderful opportunity to deepen exchanges and strengthen friendship. Looking forward to continuing cultural and community exchanges that deepen mutual understanding and build a lasting U.S.-Taiwan friendship.

🎒 What’s inside AIT’s Go-Bag?

Taiwan is holding Urban Resilience Exercises this week, and we’ve accepted the challenge from our friends at the British Office Taipei and the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei to show you what’s in our emergency prep bag!

Inside our go-bag, we’ve packed essentials like drinking water, non-perishable food, a first-aid kit, a flashlight, a power bank, and Taiwan’s "Little Orange Book" emergency guide. Plus, a little something to boost morale—some "happy water" (aka American beer! 🍺).

Next up, we’re passing the challenge to the European Economic and Trade Office (EETO) and Lin Fei-fan, Deputy Secretary-General of Taiwan’s National Security Council! Show us what’s in your go-bags!

To our followers: What’s the ONE item you can’t leave behind in your go-bag? Drop it in the comments below! 👇

“The United States rejects China’s ongoing attempts to enforce its destabilizing ‘national nature reserve’ at Scarborough Reef. We stand with our Ally, the Philippines, in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific... This is yet another unilateral attempt by China to use dubious environmental and legal pretexts, backed by coercion, to advance its sweeping territorial and maritime claims in the South China Sea at the expense of its neighbors." Department Spokesperson Pigott, August 8, 2026
