Today is 40 years since the Chornobyl accident.
We need to say a huge thank you to everyone who was involved in the liquidation process.
We remember. 🖤
It’s strange, but in a place that the whole world associates only with tragedy, I was truly, deeply happy.
It sounds like a total paradox, I know.
How can the site of the worst nuclear disaster become your favorite place on earth?
But for me, Chornobyl wasn’t just a Zone or a history lesson. It was my life for years. It was the best job I ever had.
It gave me people who became my closest friends, experiences I couldn’t have found anywhere else, and a feeling of being exactly where I belonged.
I went there to work, but I ended up finding myself.
Despite everything that happened 40 years ago, my memories of that place are incredibly warm.
I’ll always carry this place in my heart. Not as a tragedy, but as the time of my life that made me who I am today.
🖤
