Earlier Today, Tooro Kingdom, represented by a delegation of the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki, Rt. Hon. Henry Basaliza Mutegeki Araali, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign and Interkingdom relations; Hon. Joan Kantu Else Adyeri, Minister of Tourism; and Hon. Nicholas Mugume Amooti, Deputy Minister for Youth, held an engagement with His Excellency , the President of the Republic of Uganda.
During the meeting, the delegation delivered a special message from Rukirabasaija Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV and formally presented a transformative legacy development project for the Kingdom, which His Excellency graciously committed to support. Tooro Kingdom expresses its deep appreciation to the President for his continued goodwill, leadership, and firm support towards the Kingdomβs development agenda.
The proposed project seeks to rehabilitate and preserve Mucwa, the Parliament of the Kingdom, as well as the Royal Tombs, both of which are central pillars of Tooroβs cultural heritage. The project also envisions the construction of a 1,000-seater modern conference hall, a museum, a cultural centre, and a youth skilling and empowerment centre designed to equip young people for meaningful participation in the economy.
Furthermore, the development includes the establishment of a five-star hotel, a shopping mall, office blocks, and residential apartments;strategic investments intended to boost tourism, create employment, and drive sustainable economic growth within the Kingdom.
This initiative builds upon Agutambaβs earlier gesture of offering land to the Government of Uganda for the construction of a modern multipurpose stadium.
Tooro Kingdom extends its sincere gratitude to His Excellency the President for embracing this vision and for his commitment to partnering with the Kingdom to advance infrastructure development, cultural preservation, and socio-economic transformation for the people of Tooro and Uganda at large.
