Celebrating one year serving as Authority deputy Speaker comrades! What an experience it has been!
We started the term amidst the pandemic that ravaged the city...this made governance a bit challenging since all businesses were at stand still.

With a terrifying virus raging across the country, elected leaders in cities big and small were forced to take drastic action to save lives and prevent disaster. While at that time there was still a lot that we did not know about this virus, we did know that it was spreading quickly and was deadly.

That’s why at the outset, my team (the entire authority Council) and I had to make difficult choices to keep people safe. I knew it would not be easy. But I knew then, and know now, that we
are tough and we will get through this if we keep united together.

As I said during my inaugural address, from this moment forward, every action we take and every decision we make, must be with a mind to positioning our City to succeed for the next generation.

We have had a lot of hurdles in terms of governance with the central government, but we have managed to stand firm against the unpopular policies which were to throw the common man into disarray! Thanks to Allah who has made us firm in the quest to give Kampala City the best ever leadership.

At this point, I heartily congratulate my fellow Lord Councillors, my comrade, friend, sister boss,the Authority Council Speaker- Rt Hon Zahrah Luyirika for the teamwork exhibited, and the entire citizens of Kampala for the trust and prayer.

Our resolve to serve you has never been challenged! We are destined to make Kampala a better City and we shall work in the interest of the citizens of the City!

As we look toward 2022-2023, and the promise of a new year ahead, there is more to be done. I am excited about this work and seeing it through.

I fully appreciate the responsibility of this office. The people of Kampala have my commitment that I will work hard every day to build on our success and chart a new course to move Kampala forward!
