The Judiciary has today handed over the site for the construction of the Mukono High Court Annex Block, marking a major step toward resolving the persistent space limitations at the busy Mukono High Court.
The new annex, once completed, will significantly expand the court’s infrastructure with two additional court halls, three self-contained judges’ chambers, a waiting area for litigants, holding cells, a child-friendly space, and several other offices designed to improve service delivery.
The handover ceremony was attended by Lady Justice Mwonda Jacqueline, Lady Justice Mary Kisakye Kaitesi, Deputy Registrar Ntalo Nasulu Hussein, Eng. Priscilla Nakiboneka, Mr. Mpyangu Samuel Natude (Contract Manager), and contractor’s representatives led by Mr. Tonny Kalyesubura.
Speaking during the event, Eng. Nakiboneka, the Acting Commissioner of Engineering and Technical Services, explained that the project will run for one year. She noted that the construction works will be closely supervised by the Regional Engineer, assisted by a clerk of works to ensure constant on-site monitoring.
The two Judges welcomed the project with appreciation, emphasising its importance in addressing congestion and creating a more conducive environment for judicial work. They pledged their support toward smooth implementation and urged the contractor to adhere strictly to quality standards.
Deputy Registrar Ntalo echoed the same sentiments, describing the annex as a timely intervention that will greatly ease the current space pressures at Mukono High Court.
On their part, the contractor team, Kalu General Services, committed to delivering the project in line with the approved specifications, maintaining high quality, and completing it within the stipulated timeframe
